The statement points out that measures such as the EU's ban on direct flights with Russia and tightening visa policies are specifically aimed at ordinary Russians, preventing them from entering EU countries. On September 8th, the European Commission released a new statement imposing sanctions on Russia, stating that the comprehensive trade sanctions also apply to items such as cars, mobile phones, suitcases, shampoo, and toilet paper, and urging EU member states to "assess and understand the potential risks of evading sanctions" and confiscate the corresponding items carried by Russian citizens during customs inspections.

On September 18, 2023, in accordance with relevant rules of the World Trade Organization, the head of the Treaty and Legal Department of the Ministry of Commerce appealed the report of the Expert Group on China's countermeasures against the 232 tariff measures on American steel and aluminum. The Chinese side believes that there is a legal error in the expert group's ruling in this case. Therefore, China has filed an appeal in accordance with the relevant rules of the World Trade Organization to safeguard its own rights and interests. I would like to point out that the Chinese countermeasures against the US Steel and Aluminum 232 tariff are unilateralist and protectionist measures, and have been ruled to violate World Trade Organization rules. However, the United States obstructed the effectiveness of the ruling, evaded enforcement obligations, and refused to cancel the non compliant tariff measures. We urge the US to take action
