In order to promote the standardized and regulated development of the Shanghai home decoration industry, establish and improve industry standards and regulatory mechanisms, and improve decoration quality and consumer satisfaction, the Shanghai Interior Decoration Industry Association, together with all member units, held a meeting on July 3 to implement the "Residential Decoration Quality Acceptance Standards and Regulations". In response to the difficulties and pain points in the current home decoration industry, the Shanghai Interior Decoration Industry Self discipline Convention was officially released and implemented on site. Participating home decoration companies jointly signed three commitment letters: "Adhere to self-discipline, adhere to standards, and ensure safety".

The "Code for Quality Acceptance of Residential Decoration and Decoration" is the first group standard for quality acceptance of home decoration projects customized from the consumer demand side in China. It was proposed by the Shanghai Consumer Rights Protection Committee, jointly formulated by the Shanghai Interior Decoration Industry Association, Shanghai Jianke Inspection Co., Ltd., and more than 40 member enterprises. It was released and implemented in August 2021. In the past two years, the "Quality Acceptance Specification for Residential Decoration and Decoration" has played a positive role in regulating the construction behavior of indoor decoration enterprises, guiding consumers to protect their legitimate rights and interests. This standardization meeting will further standardize construction standards, adhere to the principles of standardization, normalization, and scientificization, and strengthen industry supervision.

The Shanghai Interior Decoration Industry Self discipline Convention just released at the meeting is a self discipline convention formed based on the Quality Acceptance Standards for Residential Decoration, in accordance with laws and regulations such as the Consumer Rights Protection Law, the Advertising Law, the Anti Unfair Competition Law, and the Management Measures for Residential Interior Decoration, combined with the characteristics of the interior decoration industry, targeting the industry's persistent problems and the difficulties and pain points encountered by consumers in the decoration process, after thorough discussion and public solicitation of opinions.

The self-discipline convention has made industry agreements in five aspects: firstly, regulating industry behavior, coordinating peer interests, and maintaining fair competition and legitimate interests within the industry; The second is to supervise enterprises to comply with laws and regulations, and operate in compliance with the law and regulations; The third is to protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers and maintain industry reputation; The fourth is to firmly adhere to the public safety bottom line of the interior decoration industry and fulfill social responsibilities; The fifth is the regulatory function of industry associations in fulfilling conventions. "Keep responsibility in mind, safety in hand, and mission on your shoulders," said Xu Guojian, President of the Shanghai Interior Decoration Industry Association. The release and implementation of the self-discipline convention is an important measure for the industry association to play its self-discipline function and optimize the business environment, and is an important link in improving the industry governance system. Yang Hai, Executive Vice President of the Shanghai Interior Decoration Industry Association, as a representative, read out the "Three Promises" of Shanghai home decoration on site and publicly promised to the society: 1. On the basis of implementing standards and self-discipline conventions, the association will also work together with all member enterprises to effectively raise the entry threshold for home decoration and promote the healthy development of the industry in four aspects - strengthening standard training for practitioners, and making standard training a necessary item for joining the association; Collaborate with the Institute of Building Science, industry experts, and association supervision committee to organize on-site acceptance inspections and select demonstration sites; Strengthen the promotion and popularization of standards; Strengthen industry self-discipline and attach importance to the supervision of load-bearing wall construction.
