Yuan Xiaolin, former director of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Fengxian District, took a bribe of 16 million yuan and was sentenced to 10 years and 9 months in prison
This morning, the First Intermediate People's Court of Shanghai publicly announced the bribery case of Yuan Xiaolin, former director and party secretary of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Fengxian District, Shanghai. Yuan Xiaolin was sentenced to ten years and nine months in prison and fined 1.6 million yuan for the crime of bribery; The property and proceeds obtained from bribery shall be recovered and turned over to the national treasury.
After trial, the court found that Yuan Xiaolin took advantage of his positions as a member of the Standing Committee of the Fengxian District Committee of Shanghai, Minister of Propaganda, Deputy District Mayor, Deputy Secretary of the District Committee, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the District People's Congress to provide assistance to others in undertaking engineering projects and coordinating company operations. From 1997 to 2021, he received a total of more than 16 million yuan in funds.
The Shanghai Intermediate People's Court believes that as a state functionary, Yuan Xiaolin took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others and illegally received more than 16 million yuan in property from others. His behavior has constituted the crime of bribery, and the amount involved is particularly huge. Considering that Yuan Xiaolin was able to truthfully confess his crimes after arriving at the case, voluntarily confessed some of the bribery facts that the investigating authority had not yet mastered, pleaded guilty and punished, actively returned the stolen goods, and had a statutory and discretionary lenient punishment situation, he was punished leniently in accordance with the law, and the sentencing proposal of the procuratorial organs was adopted. The court has made the above judgment in accordance with the law.
