Since the summer of this year, the number of visitors to the Qian Xuesen Library of Shanghai Jiao Tong University has been steadily increasing, with a daily average reception of over 2000 people in July, exceeding the historical level of the same period. On the evening of the 21st, Huang Jing, a young science and technology worker from the Shanghai Aerospace Control Technology Research Institute, and her family entered the library and luckily became the second millionth visitor to the Qian Xuesen Library.
That night, Huang Jing and her family signed up for the "More Night, More Beautiful - Me and My Motherland" night concert event held at Qianguan. In order to allow her family to have a better understanding of the outstanding achievements of Qian Xuesen, the founder of China's aerospace industry, before the performance, she specially arrived at the museum half an hour in advance to carefully visit the basic exhibition of "People's Scientist Qian Xuesen" inside.
To her surprise, Qian Xuesen Library prepared Huang Jing with a certificate of honor for the second millionth audience, as well as a Qian Guan model as a gift. Huang Jing said that as a contemporary aerospace enthusiast, every time I visit Qian Xuesen Library, I can feel touched and resonated with Qian's deeds and spirit. "Qian has enabled me, who is engaged in scientific research, to not forget the difficulties of China's aerospace entrepreneurship. According to a reporter from Jiefang Daily's Shangguan News, Qian Xuesen Library has gone through a period of six years, from being ranked one million to two million visitors. During this period, Qian Guan held more than ten special exhibitions and tours annually, and nearly a thousand educational and academic activities annually, covering over ten million online and offline audiences.
The "Museum Night" event at the Qianguan on that day consisted of a special tour titled "Listening to Scientists' Stories - More Beautiful at Night" and a night concert titled "More Beautiful at Night - Me and My Motherland". Under the guidance of the commentator, the audience visited the special exhibition "The Party's Cause is My Struggle Direction - Selected Stories of Scientists Joining the Party" and approached the deeds of 16 outstanding Party members and scientists in China, experiencing the spirit of "patriotism, innovation, pragmatism, dedication, collaboration, and education" as scientists.
The night concert attended by Huang Jing and others was themed "Me and My Motherland" and was performed by multiple performers and musicians from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Recitation Association, Qian Xuesen Library, and Time Chamber Orchestra. Six Jiao Tong University scientists from different periods and fields, including Qian Xuesen, Huang Xuhua, Luo Peilin, Yang Jiachi, Xu Guangxian, and Kong Hainan, were selected for their performances, integrating music language and character stories.
As a university museum, Qian Xuesen Library integrates the spirit of scientists into the entire process of teaching and educating people, allowing teachers and students to participate in character performances, immerse themselves in the psychological journey of scientists and technology workers, and appreciate the hardships of overcoming obstacles. The 5-day "Learning Forest Challenge Plan" summer challenge camp of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2023 has arrived, with over a thousand campers from 29 provinces, cities, and 76 high schools across the country conducting offline activities such as learning, practice, and achievement exhibitions at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
The "Xuesen Challenge Plan" is a pilot program designed to tailor a new model of innovative connection training between high and secondary schools for high school students who have spare capacity, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Qian Xuesen's birth. This year, the school has gathered 18 departments including the School of Marine and Architecture Engineering, the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and the Student Innovation Center to create a total of 24 subject camps for students participating in the "Xuesen Challenge Plan", including the "Digital Circuit to Chip" Challenge Camp, VEX Robotics, Flying Over the Future Challenge Camp, Innovation Structure Challenge Camp, "Seeking Medical Materials", "Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting, Character" Challenge Camp, and Future Scientist Challenge Camp, achieving a full disciplinary layout in literature, science, engineering, business, and medicine. At the same time, the "Rongchang Cup Artificial Intelligence Competition" has also opened an offline invitation competition selection channel for summer challenge campers for the first time this year, with two tracks: algorithm ranking and intelligent driving.
