Wang Zhongmin, who resigned from his position as a representative of the National People's Congress and was removed from his position as Vice Chairman of the Hezhou Writers Association

According to Article 55 of the Election Law of the National People's Congress and Local People's Congresses of the People's Republic of China, the 14th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 2nd People's Congress of Pinggui District, Hezhou City has decided:

Accept Wang Zhongmin's request to resign from his position as a representative of the Second People's Congress of Pinggui District, Hezhou City.

According to Article 56 of the Election Law of the National People's Congress and Local People's Congresses of the People's Republic of China, Wang Zhongmin's positions as a member of the Standing Committee of the Second People's Congress of Pinggui District, Hezhou City and the Chairman of the Education, Science, Culture, Health and Ethnic Affairs Committee of Pinggui District People's Congress of Hezhou City shall be terminated accordingly.

Recently, the incident of Wang Zhongmin, Vice Chairman of the Hezhou Writers Association in Guangxi, suspected of plagiarism has been widely circulated on the internet. On September 15th, the Guangxi Writers Association reported that Wang Zhongmin's plagiarism was true and revoked his position as Vice Chairman of the Hezhou Writers Association and his membership in the Guangxi Writers Association.

On September 14th, Shandong Literature magazine issued a statement stating that it received feedback from readers that some of the content in "Sleeping Corridor" published in the second issue of 2022 by Shandong Literature was suspected of plagiarism.

After verification, the editorial department of Shandong Literature believes that there is a phenomenon of plagiarism in several poems, including "Fruit", "Father Playing the Flute When He Was Young", "Spring Comes, You Are As Bright as Ever", and "Sleeping Corridor", which involve plagiarism. The editorial department expresses sincere apologies to the original authors for this and has decided to recover Wang Zhongmin's payment for the second issue of 2022, and will no longer publish Wang Zhongmin's works in the future.

Screenshot: Guangxi Writers Association announced on the 15th that Wang Zhongmin, male, Han ethnicity, born in 1976, joined Guangxi Writers Association in March 1996 with membership number 1117. In September 2023, there was a rumor circulating online that the Vice Chairman of the Hezhou Writers Association had plagiarized and requested the Chinese Writers Association to cancel his membership qualification for 2023. The Guangxi Writers Association attached great importance to this and conducted an investigation into the plagiarism reported by Wang Zhongmin, the Vice Chairman of the Hezhou Writers Association. After careful verification, the situation is true.

The Guangxi Writers Association has dealt with Wang Zhongmin's plagiarism as follows:

Firstly, immediately conduct serious criticism and education on Wang Zhongmin's unethical and disorderly behavior, hold him accountable for his profound reflection, and apologize to the plagiarized individuals and publications;

Secondly, the Guangxi Writers Association believed that Wang Zhongmin did not have the qualifications to apply for membership in the Chinese Writers Association and applied to withdraw his recommendation to the Chinese Writers Association on September 14th;

Thirdly, on September 15th, the Hezhou Writers Association dealt with Wang Zhongmin in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Hezhou Writers Association Articles of Association, revoking his position as Vice Chairman of the Hezhou Writers Association and revoking his membership;

Fourthly, in accordance with Article 29 of the Constitution of the Guangxi Writers Association, the Guangxi Writers Association stipulates that "if a member violates the Constitution of the Association, violates professional ethics, social morality, public order and good customs, or violates discipline and laws, the Association shall, depending on the severity of the circumstances, decide to criticize and educate, suspend membership or revoke membership." After the deliberation of the Presidium, Wang Zhongmin's membership in the Guangxi Writers Association shall be revoked from September 15, 2023.
