Suzhou Gardens Flooded? Official Response
On June 30, many netizens posted pictures saying that the trails in Suzhou Gardens were flooded due to heavy rain. From the pictures, we can see that the lake water in Suzhou Gardens has flooded to the viewing platform and steps.
The reporter called the Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Landscape Architecture, and the relevant staff responded that the situation in the photo was from 2 to 3 pm on June 30. At that time, Suzhou had heavy rains, which caused instantaneous water accumulation in the scenic area. After overnight drainage, the water has completely receded. At present, the water level in the scenic area has returned to normal levels, and it will not affect the normal opening of the scenic area.
It is understood that at 19:00 on June 30, Suzhou City upgraded its flood control emergency response to Level III. Since the night of the 29th, Suzhou City has experienced heavy rainfall. As of 18:00 on the 30th, heavy rain fell throughout the city, with some areas experiencing torrential rain. According to the meteorological department, the rain will intensify again during the day on July 1, with heavy rain to torrential rain.
The reporter consulted the Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Landscape Architecture on relevant issues. The staff told the reporter that in order to strengthen the response during the flood season, the Municipal Bureau of Landscape Architecture conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ancient rockery, tall trees, drainage systems, emergency supplies, ongoing projects and non-open areas in the park. At the same time, to ensure the safety of tourists, the scenic area also set up warning signs and cordons in ponds, waterlogging points and other areas to remind tourists to pay attention to safety when touring the surrounding areas to avoid accidents.
