Shanghai is a window where Chinese and Western cultures meet in modern times, a major center of the news and publishing industry, and the birthplace and starting point of the Communist Party of China. The news and publishing industry in modern times has accumulated rich historical materials and cultural memories by spreading advanced ideas and culture, inheriting the excellent Chinese civilization, and promoting exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations. On June 30, 2023, the China Modern and Contemporary News and Publishing Museum was officially opened to the public, becoming a new cultural coordinate in the long cultural context of Shanghai. Based on heavy historical objects and with the help of multiple presentation methods, it continues the glorious tradition of the modern and contemporary news and publishing industry and builds a spiritual home for news and publishing people.
One year after its opening, in addition to introducing the first exhibition, the China Modern and Contemporary Press and Publication Museum also announced a series of cooperation projects and received a number of important cultural relics donations.
Sun Ge, the great-nephew of Ge Gongzhen, an outstanding patriotic journalist and founder of Chinese journalism history, once again donated a batch of important manuscripts and documents of Ge Gongzhen, including the manuscript of "Overview of the League of Nations" written by Ge Gongzhen after his European investigation in the late 1920s, and news clippings about Ge Gongzhen's visit to Geneva to cover the League of Nations meeting. The manuscript of "Overview of the League of Nations" details the organizational form and operation of the League of Nations, and advocates that China should actively use this organization to protect my country's rights and interests, promote international mutual assistance, and jointly seek world peace. This article has not been published publicly, and the thoughts in it make people recognize Ge Gongzhen's deep patriotic feelings again.
Wu Fuming, a member of the China Collectors Association, donated four sets of historical documents, including receipts for newspaper and magazine fees from the Shanghai News Unified Service Agency in the early days of liberation, a membership certificate of the "Shanghai Lead Printing Industry Association" from Zhengtai Xinji Printing House in 1947, a receipt for Wenhui Daily News shares in 1947, and stocks from New Children's Bookstore in 1955. These precious donations bear witness to the social life, industry outlook, and life history of the predecessors of the journalism industry in the past.
In the past year, the China Modern and Contemporary Press and Publication Museum and Shanghai Xinhua Distribution Group have worked together on projects such as the "Calligraphy Art Collection·Qin Long Art Exhibition" touring Dongyi Art Museum, and the "AR Digital Exploration of the Beauty of Qiuci Cultural Heritage" wearable devices and smart mobile interactive content. In December 2023, the "Workers' Ideological and Political Classroom" jointly built by the two parties was unveiled. At the event, the two parties jointly signed a party building joint construction agreement and unveiled the Shanghai Wenhui Xinmin Continuing Education College Practice Education Base. In the future, they will further deepen cooperation in education practice bases, education practice projects, cultural and creative businesses, exhibition projects, etc., and jointly contribute to the efforts to build the best practice of Xi Jinping's cultural thoughts.

The Press and Publication Museum's series of lectures will also be held at the Yangpu District Library Main Library, embracing Yangpu's "Centennial Municipal Government" and conveying the fragrance of books in the historical space. It plans to launch a series of lectures on Science Pictorial, Petofi, etc., and combine with the Press and Publication Museum's annual exhibition to plan themed lectures on Lu Xun, writing, reading, etc., to enhance the public's understanding of the history and industry of press and publishing.
