On June 26, the 29th Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Award judges meeting was held. Jury chairman Yan Jiangang and actors Hai Qing and You Yongzhi, art director Han Zhong, literary critic Li Yuesen, screenwriter Wang Xiaoqiang, director Yang Lei and many other judges attended the meeting.
Xiao Han, a judge in the documentary category and director of "I Repair Cultural Relics in the Forbidden City", talked about his thoughts on documentary creation in the era of short videos. Actor You Yongzhi lamented that there were too many good works and it was really a headache to choose only the best one. He mentioned that all judges would pay attention to the overall quality of the works and the success of a TV series requires the concerted efforts of everyone.
Wang Xiaoqiang, screenwriter of the popular drama "Harbin 1944", served as a judge for the Chinese TV series unit. Wang Xiaoqiang said that audiences generally like new things and dislike old things. After watching the same type of drama for a long time, they definitely want to see some new and different stories.
Actress Hai Qing said that she has been watching the shortlisted works during this period, and she has basically watched most of them in a comprehensive way. As a practitioner, she has seen that the themes and expressions of the shortlisted works have become more diverse, and have made great progress.
French actor Andy can speak fluent Chinese. He serves as a judge in the overseas TV series unit.
Yang Lei, the director of the science fiction drama "The Three-Body Problem", mentioned that he must be moved when he takes on a work, and he also hopes that it will be meaningful to society and the audience.
Japanese animation screenwriter and director MariOKADA served as a judge in the documentary category.
Chen Liaoyu, chief director of "Chinese Legends" and judge of the animation category, also admitted the hard work of making animations. "A few months or a year is a long time to shoot a movie, but for an animation, three to five years is normal, and ten years is not unusual. Under this premise, if you don't have passion, you can't persist physically."
