According to news today, relevant responsible persons from the Central Organization Department attended the leading cadres meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and announced the central decision: Comrade Han Jun was appointed as the Party Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Han Jun was previously the Secretary of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee. Earlier today, the CPC Central Committee decided that: Comrade Liang Yanshun will serve as a member, standing member and secretary of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, and will no longer serve as the Secretary, Standing Committee member and member of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Party Committee; Comrade Han Jun will no longer serve as the Secretary, Standing Committee member and member of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, and will be appointed to another position.

According to his official resume, Han Jun is a male of Han nationality, born in December 1963 in Gaoqing, Shandong Province. He is a postgraduate student, a doctor of agronomy, a researcher, and a member of the Communist Party of China. Han Jun is a senior researcher in the field of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" and a scholar-official. He once described himself as "the disciple of Du Runsheng." Du Runsheng is honored as the "father of China's rural reform."

In October 2015, Han Jun, then deputy director of the Office of the Central Financial and Economic Leading Group, wrote a memoir to commemorate the late Du Runsheng, former director of the Rural Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee and former director of the Rural Development Research Center of the State Council. Han Jun revealed in the article, "I was fortunate to be appreciated by Mr. Du, and with his direct intervention, I had the opportunity to enter the long-admired 'No. 9 Courtyard' and become one of 'Du Runsheng's disciples'. Whenever I think of Mr. Du, who was a stranger to me but gave me the greatest help in my life and changed my life's destiny, my heart is filled with infinite gratitude, touching and warmth. At the most critical moment of my life, I was fortunate to receive the guidance and care of such a great man. This is my greatest honor in my life."

In the article, Han Jun also pointed out that rural reform is the highlight of the comprehensive deepening of reform. At present, to do a good job in rural reform, we must grasp the direction in general, prevent rural reform from going off track, and avoid making irreversible directional errors.
