Some cultural relics can be seen and touched. The Shanghai Museum East Pavilion will reopen tomorrow
After more than a month of intensive construction and exhibition layout, the construction of the East Building of the Shanghai Museum has now completed the second node in the "trilogy" of opening. With the addition of 10 exhibition halls and interactive experience spaces, the open area will reach about 80% of the exhibition space, and the daily reception limit will double to 20,000 people per day.
Starting from June 26, in order to facilitate the travel of visitors between the People's Square Pavilion and the East Pavilion, the Shanghai Museum and the public transportation system have cooperated to open a convenient customized bus route to connect visitors point-to-point between the two pavilions.
The Ceramics Museum added an innovative exhibit at the end of the exhibition hall, setting up an interactive area for touching cultural relics specimens. After professional evaluation and special protection treatment, and on the premise of ensuring safety and improving relevant measures, visitors are allowed to touch an underglaze blue-and-white porcelain vase from the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, creating a precedent for similar exhibitions in China.
Staff members worked overtime to decorate the exhibition hall in the Ceramics Museum.

The Shanghai Museum's East Hall is gradually advancing its opening plan in accordance with the "three-step" plan. At the end of June, the four permanent exhibition halls of the "General History of Ancient Chinese Art Series" will be opened, namely the Ceramics Hall, the Seal Carving Hall, the Jade Hall, and the Currency Hall. Together with the Bronze Hall and the Sculpture Hall that have already been opened, six of the eight "Textbooks of Ancient Chinese Art History" of the Shanghai Museum have been unveiled.
Ancient Civilization Exploration Palace. In the "Underwater Archaeology" area, a project to touch the ancient porcelain specimens unearthed from the ancient ship "Yangtze River Estuary No. 2" was specially designed for young people.
At the same time, focusing on the theme of exploring the source of urban culture and foreign cultural exchanges, two new special exhibition halls were launched, namely the "Archaeology Shanghai" exhibition in the Archaeology Museum and the "China·World: Ceramics and Sino-Foreign Exchanges" exhibition in the Ceramics Museum. In addition, four new interactive experience spaces have been created, including the Ancient Civilization Exploration Palace, the "Shanshui Jiangnan" exhibition in the Digital Museum, the Cultural Relics Protection and Restoration Experience Hall, and the Cultural and Creative Flagship Space, which will provide visitors with a more exciting new cultural and tourism experience. Since then, except for the Painting Museum, Calligraphy Museum, Shanghai Painting and Calligraphy Museum, and Zhao Puchu Calligraphy Art Museum, which need to be opened before the end of November, other exhibition spaces in the East Hall of the Shanghai Museum have been open to the public.
