Why do people rush there? , New quality productivity looks at "Shenzhen Middle School"丨This "sea of stars"
64,000 vehicles. This is the real-time data of vehicle traffic recorded on the first day of the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel.
People expressed their enthusiasm and expectations for this "super project" with their steps and actions: at 17:00 that day, the traffic flow on the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link even reached a peak of 8,000 vehicles per hour, and the traffic continued until late at night.
This is not the first time that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has built a night dragon in the Lingdingyang.
This is the nighttime light remote sensing map produced by the Zhuhai-1 satellite for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for nine consecutive years. By capturing the light distribution in the Greater Bay Area over the past nine years, it can reflect the regional economic and social development to a certain extent.
Since 1997, over the past 20 years, the Humen Bridge, the Nansha Bridge, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge... almost every cross-river and cross-sea project across the Lingdingyang has become a "hotline" connecting the east and west banks of the Pearl River Estuary.
The rolling traffic and the night lights of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link intersect, drawing a series of brightly lit curves on the satellite map. Driven by these transportation projects, the Pearl River Delta has also connected points with lines, points with surfaces, and gradually formed a "sea of stars". While lighting up the night sky of the Greater Bay Area, it also lights up new imagination space for regional collaborative development.
Today, this "sea of stars" continues to extend outward.

Coincidentally, on the same day that the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel was opened, the Longchuan to Xunwu branch line of the Hehuiguan Expressway was also officially opened. After the opening of this inter-provincial expressway connecting Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces, the driving distance from Ruijin City, Xunwu County and other places in Jiangxi to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be shortened by about 30 kilometers.
New out-of-province channels, new linkage possibilities. Don’t underestimate the half-hour drive saved. The transportation of Ganzhou oranges, watermelons and other specialty agricultural products from Jiangxi to the Greater Bay Area can avoid the bumps caused by the many bends and ups and downs on the national highway. The connection between the "vegetable basket" and "fruit basket" between Guangdong and Jiangxi may be further strengthened.
Whether it is the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link or the Longxun Expressway, whether it is the east and west banks of the Pearl River Estuary or the Guangdong-Jiangxi provincial boundary, they seem to be far apart, but they all reflect the top-level design ideas of the Greater Bay Area and Guangdong’s transportation construction - using transportation construction to leverage coordinated development among regions.
This idea can be better confirmed in the series of POI heat maps of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area produced based on satellite and multi-source geographic information data: the darker the color, the higher the density of the regional transportation network. In the past nine years, Guangdong has continuously deployed transportation "activities" in key areas within the Greater Bay Area, and has also "taken small steps and run fast" in the construction of transportation projects between the Bay Area and the east, west and north of Guangdong, and between Guangdong and other central provinces.
This can also be found in the Guangdong Provincial Expressway Network Plan: by 2035, Guangdong will have built 15,000 kilometers of expressways. The Greater Bay Area will form a main skeleton expressway of "12 vertical, 8 horizontal, 2 rings and 16 radials".
Among them, there are "super projects" such as the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel and the Huangmaohai Channel that cross rivers and seas, which will further "pull" the cities along the Pearl River Estuary into the 100-kilometer "golden inner bay" of the Pearl River Estuary; there are also "capillaries" like the Longxun Expressway that facilitate inter-provincial circulation and densely weave the east, west and north of Guangdong, making "poetry and distance" no longer far away.
Next year, Guangdong will achieve one-hour high-speed rail access within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and two-hour access within Guangdong Province. In terms of cargo circulation, domestic delivery will be achieved within one day... Standing on the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel and looking out, along the "super project" at the mouth of the Pearl River, along the ever-expanding transportation network, new transportation projects are rising from the ground, creating a brighter sea of stars in the night sky and drawing clearer and clearer answers to development on the land of southern Guangdong.
