Last week, Yunnan Provincial Party Committee member, provincial government party group deputy secretary, and vice governor Li Shisong was removed from office. Li Pengxin, former deputy secretary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Party Committee, was arrested. Li Yuefeng, executive vice chairman of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League Central Committee, was removed from his post as a deputy to the National People's Congress.

On June 25, Li Shisong, member of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, deputy secretary of the provincial government’s party group, and deputy governor, was removed from office.

Li Shisong, male, Bai nationality, born in February 1969, is a part-time doctoral student, a member of the Communist Party of China, and started working in July 1990.

Li Shisong has served as the director of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, mayor of Qujing City, and was appointed Secretary of the Qujing Municipal Party Committee in December 2021.

On December 22, 2023, Li Shisong resigned from his posts as secretary, standing committee member, and member of the Qujing Municipal Party Committee. In January 2024, Li Shisong became a member of the Standing Committee of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, deputy secretary of the provincial government party group, and deputy governor.

According to the People's Daily client on June 28, the case of Li Pengxin, former deputy secretary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Party Committee, suspected of taking bribes, was concluded by the National Supervisory Commission and transferred to the procuratorate for review and prosecution. Recently, the Supreme People's Procuratorate made an arrest decision on Li Pengxin on suspicion of taking bribes. The case is being further processed.

Li Pengxin was born in December 1960 in Shenchi, Shanxi. He graduated from the Central Party School with a major in legal theory and received a postgraduate degree from the Central Party School. He has worked in Qinghai, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang.

Li Pengxin has served as deputy secretary of the Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Party Committee and secretary of the Golmud Municipal Party Committee. In 2001, he was appointed secretary of the Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Party Committee.

In August 2005, Li Pengxin was promoted to the vice-ministerial level and served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee and concurrently as Secretary of the Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Party Committee. In 2007, he also served as Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Provincial Party Committee.

In 2011, Li Pengxin left Qinghai, where he had worked for more than 30 years, and moved to Inner Mongolia to serve as a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 2016, he was appointed as the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and concurrently as the secretary of the Autonomous Region Education Work Committee. He will retire in 2021.

On December 11 last year, Li Pengxin was investigated and was expelled from the party and removed from office on June 17 this year.

On June 28, the National People's Congress website released the "Announcement of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (14th) No. 5", which shows that the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial People's Congress decided to remove Li Yuefeng from his position as a representative of the 14th National People's Congress. The Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress decided to remove Wang Shanping from his position as a representative of the 14th National People's Congress. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Deputies to the National People's Congress and Local People's Congresses at All Levels", the representative qualifications of Li Yuefeng and Wang Shanping have been terminated. According to his resume on the official website, Li Yuefeng was born in July 1958 in Yuzhong District, Chongqing City, and is from Zhongli, Taiwan. He joined the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League in November 2001. Before being investigated, he was a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, vice chairman of the Supervision and Judicial Committee, and executive vice chairman of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League Central Committee.

He has worked in Chongqing for a long time. From January 2013 to January 2018, he served as Vice Chairman of the Chongqing CPPCC and Deputy Attorney General of the Chongqing People's Procuratorate. From January 2018 to September 2018, he served as Deputy Attorney General of the Chongqing People's Procuratorate. In December 2017, he served as Executive Vice Chairman of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League Central Committee.

In October 2015, Jiang Jiemin was sentenced to sixteen years in prison.

The trial found that Jiang Jiemin received bribes equivalent to RMB 14,039,073 from 2004 to 2013. From 2004 to 2008, Jiang Jiemin, at the instigation or instruction of Zhou Yongkang, violated regulations and provided assistance to others in their business activities, causing particularly serious losses to national interests.

"My criminal facts are clear and definite, and the evidence of the crime is real and conclusive," said Jiang Jiemin.

Bai Enpei was born in September 1946 in Qingjian, Shaanxi Province. He has served as Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Environmental and Resources Protection Committee, and other positions.

In October 2016, Bai Enpei was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve, with no eligibility for commutation of sentence or parole.

The trial found that from 2000 to 2013, Bai Enpei illegally accepted property from others directly or through his wife, totaling RMB 2.46764511 billion.

"I regret that a provincial party secretary who was trained by the Communist Party for many years became like this. I have caused too much loss to the party organization," said Bai Enpei.

Fu Zhenghua was born in March 1955 in Luan County, Hebei Province. He has served as deputy secretary of the Party Committee and executive vice minister of the Ministry of Public Security, Minister of Justice, and deputy director of the Social and Legal Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

In October 2021, Fu Zhenghua was brought down.

In September 2022, Fu Zhenghua was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve, with no eligibility for commutation of sentence or parole.

The trial found that from 2005 to 2021, Fu Zhenghua illegally accepted property directly or through his relatives, totaling more than 117 million yuan.

"My illegal and criminal activities have seriously damaged the image of the party and I have learned a very painful lesson," said Fu Zhenghua.

Huang Xingguo was born in October 1954 in Xiangshan, Zhejiang Province. He served as acting secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and mayor.

In September 2017, Huang Xingguo was sentenced to twelve years in prison.

The trial found that from 1994 to 2016, Huang Xingguo directly or through others accepted property from relevant personnel totaling more than RMB 40.03 million.

The documentary mentioned that Huang Xingguo was found to have problems during the "follow-up inspection" period.

"After the first inspection, they made a 'comeback' the second time. This was a powerful move. Ideals and beliefs were shaken, people were making their own calculations, and their selfish desires expanded. Problems arose. The fundamental reason, the root cause, was this problem," said Huang Xingguo.

Yun Guangzhong was born in June 1960 in Tuzuo Banner, Inner Mongolia, of Mongolian ethnicity. He has served as member of the Standing Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Party Committee and Secretary of the Hohhot Municipal Party Committee.

In November 2020, Yun Guangzhong was sentenced to fourteen years in prison.

The trial found that from 2005 to 2018, Yun Guangzhong illegally accepted property given by others directly or through his close relatives, totaling more than RMB 94.32 million.

"Not only the leader himself is being hunted, but also the leader's entire relatives and friends. This whole group will hunt you down. You can't control yourself." Yun Guangzhong said.

Fan Yifei was born in August 1964 in Taixing, Jiangsu Province. He was formerly a member of the Party Committee and deputy governor of the People's Bank of China.

In November 2022, Fan Yifei was brought down, becoming the first tiger to be investigated and punished after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

In April 2024, the first trial of Fan Yifei's bribery case opened.

The indictment alleges that from 1993 to 2022, Fan Yifei illegally accepted property totaling more than RMB 386 million, directly or through his specific relations.

"If a businessman sends money to my office, I won't take it. But if he gives it to my family in the form of stocks, that would be a different outcome. I've been thinking about it a lot," said Fan Yifei.

Gu Chunli was born in July 1957 in Jinzhou, Liaoning Province. He has served as secretary of the Tiexi District Committee of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, secretary of the Anshan Municipal Committee, and vice governor of Jilin Province.

Gu Chunli was dismissed in August 2015. The latest documentary revealed that he was investigated for serious violations of the spirit of the Central Committee's eight regulations and serious violations of discipline and law.

In March 2017, Gu Chunli was sentenced to twelve years in prison.

The trial found that between 2002 and 2015, Gu Chunli accepted property from others directly or through his family on many occasions, totaling more than 43.65 million yuan.

"I never thought I would end up like this, and I regret it very much," Gu Chunli said. "As a government official and entrepreneur, if you don't do things that are 'close' and 'clean', you will be in trouble. This is the biggest lesson I've learned in my life."

Chen Shulong was born in November 1962 in Chaohu, Anhui Province. He was formerly a member of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor.

In November 2016, Chen Shulong was arrested.

In April 2019, Chen Shulong was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The trial found that from 1994 to 2016, Chen Shulong illegally accepted property from relevant units or individuals directly or through specific persons with whom he had a special relationship, totaling more than 275.8 million yuan in RMB.

"If you want to be an official, don't try to get rich; if you want to get rich, don't be an official. Otherwise, you will end up like me, losing both your money and your life, and regretting it too late," said Chen Shulong.
