The more opportunities for cooperation | Worldview, New Zealand entrepreneurs talk about New Zealand-China relations: The more frequent the cultural exchanges
"Both New Zealand and China agree that the more frequent the people-to-people exchanges, the richer the opportunities for cooperation." This was the conclusion made by Bailey O'Brien, CEO of the New Zealand Employers and Manufacturers Association, New Zealand's largest business association, after Premier Li Qiang held a discussion with representatives of New Zealand's business community on June 14.
O'Brien said that New Zealand writer and social activist Rewi Alley had worked in China for 60 years and made great contributions to the relations between China and New Zealand. Now that China has introduced a visa-free policy for New Zealand, it will further promote exchanges between the two peoples and bring more development opportunities for both countries.
"I think we recognise that the more people-to-people contact the two countries have, the greater the opportunities there are together," concluded Brett Raymond O'Riley, chief executive of the Employers & Manufacturers Association, the largest to fit skin in the country, after joining other people in the business and commercial circles meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang during his visit to New Zealand.
In a recent interview with China News Network, O'Riley emphasized the significant role played by Rewi Alley, a New Zealand writer and social activist, strengthening the bilateral relationship through his six decades of work alongside the Chinese people.
He believes that the friendly exchanges between the two peoples will continue to flourish with China's visa-waiving policy for New Zealand visitors, which is expected to create more opportunities for cooperation. O'Riley also expressed hope for a similar policy to be implemented by New Zealand in the future.
