On the morning of June 28, a commemorative meeting for the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. President Xi Jinping attended the commemorative meeting and delivered an important speech entitled "Promoting the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and Working Together to Build a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind."
In midsummer, the sky is high and the clouds are vast. The Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People is solemn and magnificent, and is filled with distinguished guests.
At around 10 a.m., to the sound of the magnificent music of "Peace - Community of Shared Future", Xi Jinping entered the Golden Hall.
Xi Jinping shook hands with foreign leaders attending the commemorative meeting one by one and interacted cordially with them.

Xi Jinping pointed out that in the historical process of the development of modern human society, handling relations between countries, jointly maintaining world peace and tranquility, and promoting the development and progress of all mankind have always been major propositions that countries have been exploring unremittingly. 70 years ago, national independence and liberation movements were surging, and the world colonial system collapsed. The Cold War cloud shrouded the world, and "might is right" was rampant. Newly independent countries were eager to safeguard national sovereignty and develop national economies. For the first time, Chinese leaders fully proposed the Five Principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence, and incorporated them into the China-India and China-Myanmar joint statements, jointly advocating the establishment of the Five Principles as the basic norms guiding relations between countries. This has become a great initiative in the history of international relations and has epoch-making significance.
Over the past 70 years, the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence have transcended time and space, and have become more resilient and more relevant over time. They have become open, inclusive and universally applicable basic norms of international relations and basic principles of international law. They have set a historical benchmark for international relations and international rule of law, provided correct guidance for the establishment and development of relations between countries with different social systems, gathered strong synergy for the unity, cooperation and joint self-reliance of developing countries, contributed historical wisdom to the reform and improvement of the international order, and made an indelible historical contribution to the cause of human progress.
Xi Jinping stressed that 70 years later, facing the major issue of "what kind of world to build and how to build this world", China has given the answer of the times to build a community with a shared future for mankind. The concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind is in line with the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. Both are rooted in the excellent traditional Chinese culture of being friendly to neighbors, keeping faith and building friendship, and coordinating all nations. Both demonstrate the spirit of China's diplomatic self-confidence, self-reliance, upholding justice, and helping the weak and promoting good. Both reflect the world sentiment of the Chinese Communists to make new and greater contributions to mankind. Both show China's firm determination to adhere to the path of peaceful development. It is the best inheritance, promotion and sublimation of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence under the new situation. This concept is based on the objective reality that the destinies of countries are intertwined and shared, and has established a new model of equality and symbiosis; it conforms to the trend of the times of peace, development, cooperation and win-win, and has opened up a new realm of peace and progress; it focuses on the historical trend of world multipolarization and economic globalization, and enriches the new practice of development and security.
Xi Jinping pointed out that faced with the historical choices of peace or war, prosperity or recession, unity or confrontation, we need more than ever to carry forward the spiritual connotation of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and work unremittingly toward the lofty goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind.
- We must uphold the principle of sovereign equality and advocate an equal and orderly multipolar world, ensuring that all countries can find their place in the multipolar system and play their due role under the premise of abiding by international law, so as to ensure that the process of multipolar world is generally stable and constructive.
- We must consolidate the foundation of mutual respect. We must respect each other's core interests and major concerns, respect the development paths and institutional models independently chosen by the people of all countries, jointly uphold the "golden rule" of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and jointly oppose imposing one's will on others, opposing camp confrontation and various "small circles", and opposing forcing other countries to take sides.
- We must realize the vision of peace and security. We must share the responsibility of maintaining peace, walk the path of peaceful development, seek peace, safeguard peace and share peace. We must implement the Global Security Initiative, promote development and security through cooperation, and build a more balanced, effective and sustainable security architecture.
——We must gather momentum for building common prosperity. We must advocate inclusive economic globalization, promote high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, implement global development initiatives, and enable people of all countries to share the fruits of development and seek common development and prosperity.
- We must uphold the concept of fairness and justice. We must advocate the concept of global governance of extensive consultation, joint construction and shared benefits, practice true multilateralism, insist that international rules are jointly written and maintained by all countries, and that the affairs of the world should be handled through consultation among all countries.
-- We must demonstrate an open and inclusive mind. We must implement the Global Civilization Initiative, promote mutual understanding and friendship among peoples of all countries, and promote tolerance and mutual learning among all civilizations. This world can fully accommodate the common development and progress of all countries. Different civilizations can fully absorb and complement each other through equal treatment, mutual learning and mutual benefit.
Xi Jinping stressed that the development of history over the past 70 years has repeatedly proved that strengthening unity and cooperation and enhancing communication and understanding are effective ways for countries to jointly meet challenges and create a better future. The "Global South" has grown in momentum and played a vital role in promoting human progress. Standing at a new historical starting point, the "Global South" should work together with a more open and inclusive attitude and take the lead in promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
We should jointly serve as a stabilizing force for peace, promote the peaceful settlement of differences and disputes among countries, and constructively participate in the political settlement of international and regional hot-spot issues; jointly serve as a backbone force for open development, push for development to return to the center of the international agenda, revitalize the global development partnership, and deepen South-South cooperation and North-South dialogue; jointly serve as a constructive force for global governance, actively participate in the reform and construction of the global governance system, strive to expand the common interests of all parties, and promote a more balanced and effective global governance architecture; jointly serve as a promoting force for mutual learning among civilizations, enhance communication and dialogue among different civilizations in the world, strengthen exchanges on state governance, and deepen exchanges in education, science and technology, culture, local, non-governmental and youth fields.
Xi Jinping announced that in order to better support the "Global South" cooperation, China will set up a "Global South" research center, provide 1,000 "Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence Excellence Scholarships" and 100,000 training places to the "Global South" countries in the next five years, and launch the "Global South" Youth Leaders Program. Continue to make good use of the China-UN Peace and Development Fund, the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund, and the South-South Cooperation Fund for Climate Change, jointly establish a trilateral cooperation demonstration center for the implementation of the Global Development Initiative with relevant parties, and continue to establish the South-South and trilateral cooperation fund in the International Fund for Agricultural Development. China is willing to negotiate free trade arrangements with more "Global South" countries, continue to support the trade promotion aid initiative launched by the World Trade Organization and continue to invest in "China projects", and welcome more "Global South" countries to join the "Framework Initiative for International Economic and Trade Cooperation on Digital Economy and Green Development".
Xi Jinping stressed that the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence have long been included in the Chinese Constitution and have become the cornerstone of China's independent and peaceful foreign policy. China's determination to follow the path of peaceful development, its determination to cooperate with other countries in a friendly manner, and its determination to promote common development in the world will not change. China will continue to promote the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, work with other countries to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and make new and greater contributions to maintaining world peace and promoting common development.
