Meeting China | Peruvian youth Sen Rui: China's continuous opening and development has given me unlimited opportunities

From a geographical perspective, Peru is one of the countries farthest from China. Although the two countries are separated by oceans, their friendship has a long history. There are many Peruvians working, studying and living in China, and Peruvian youth Sen Rui is one of them. In today's "Meet China", let's listen to the story of Peruvian youth Sen Rui.
When I first met Senrui, he was busy preparing goods to be shipped to Peru in Yiwu International Trade City. These were carefully selected by him in order to meet the peak sales season of Peru's traditional festivals in the second half of the year.
In Yiwu International Trade City, where many foreign merchants gather, although Senrui is not the one with the largest business, he is full of energy. He said that he came to China from Peru to study, find a job and start a business here. Although each step is not easy, there are many opportunities here.
When he was still studying at university in Peru, Senrui had some understanding of China. He said: "I studied economics and trade in Peru, so I have some understanding of the economic development of every country in the world. I saw that China's economy is developing so fast, which must mean great opportunities, so I went to Shanghai University of Finance and Economics to study for an MBA."
Sen Rui recalled: "As soon as I arrived in Shanghai, I felt that I had made the right choice."
From 2017 to 2020, during his three years of study in Shanghai, Senrui truly felt the pulse of Shanghai and saw the vitality of the Chinese market.
Sen Rui said: "I can see a lot of business opportunities in China. In the second year after I came to Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai held the China International Import Expo. When I went to see it, I thought, my God, so many people and so many countries are here, there are business opportunities everywhere, I must not miss it. Then I found that every year thereafter, many policy documents were issued to expand the international market and make it easier for us foreigners to do business."
Senrui realized that China's high level of opening up to the outside world has brought unlimited opportunities to the world. After graduation, he chose to do business in Yiwu, known as the "World Supermarket", and brought Chinese products to Peru.
Sen Rui said: "I like China's business environment very much. China gives you new products every day, and I can find something that I think is great every day. This is really great for us business people. For example, you can see that there are many doll-grabbing machines in Chinese shopping malls and streets, and both children and adults like to play with them. Some small kitchen furniture is very popular in Peru. Some designs are very convenient and creative, and can make you happier. I think this is called the 'happy economy'."
Every once in a while, Senrui would send Chinese products carrying happiness to Peru. Watching the cargo ships sail to the other side of the Pacific Ocean, his heart was filled with hope.
Sen Rui said: "Now it takes 40 days for my goods to arrive from China to Peru. After the opening of Chancay Port, it may only take 20 days. By then, Peru will become an important shipping port in Latin America."
The Chancay Port mentioned by Senrui is the first large-scale transportation infrastructure project implemented by China in Peru, and is also a landmark project of the "Belt and Road" initiative in Latin America. It is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. After completion, the Chancay Port will develop into an important hub port in Latin America and a gateway port to the Pacific Ocean, which will not only promote local economic development, but also become a new connection point and communication bridge for friendly economic and trade exchanges between China and Peru. Senrui said that he is eagerly looking forward to the day when it is completed.
He said: "China's investment in our Chancay Port is very important because it will boost our local economy, such as trade, logistics, industry, etc., and there will be more job opportunities for young people. I plan to buy a warehouse in Chancay Port to store goods. We businessmen like to rush forward because these are all opportunities. With a port, there will be more trade, and opportunities will follow."
Senrui believes that with the continuous upgrading of the free trade agreement between the two countries and the commissioning of Chancai Port, there will be more and more exchanges between China and Peru in the future, and the friendship between the two countries will become deeper and deeper.
Sen Rui said: "I hope Peru can see China's development process and achievements and replicate them in Peru's development. I also hope that more Chinese friends will come to Peru to see that whether you want to invest, do business or travel, you will see a warm and friendly Peru that welcomes you with open arms."
