'Lebanon is at war'
On June 29, local time, Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said in the southern city of Tyre that the threat Lebanon is witnessing is a psychological warfare. Lebanon is indeed in a state of war, with many civilians and non-civilians killed and many villages destroyed by Israel. Mikati said that the psychological warfare is escalating, but Lebanon will overcome the current difficult stage.
Since the current round of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict broke out in October last year, Hezbollah has launched rockets, artillery shells and drones into Israel in support of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, and the Israeli army has responded with air strikes and artillery fire. As the Israeli army continues to advance its military operations in the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah has also stepped up its attacks on Israel.
Since June this year, tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border have further escalated. After an Israeli airstrike killed a senior Hezbollah commander earlier this month, Hezbollah retaliated by launching hundreds of rockets and drones, and Israel subsequently responded with even more intense bombings. On the 18th, the Israeli military announced that it had approved a plan to launch a military operation in Lebanon.
As previously reported, on June 28 local time, the Iranian mission to the United Nations stated through social media that although Iran regards Israel's "propaganda intended to attack Lebanon as psychological warfare", if Israel launches a "full-scale military operation" against Lebanon, "a devastating war will ensue." The Iranian mission to the United Nations also stated that in this case, "all options, including the full participation of all resistance fronts, are considered."
