Xi Jinping talks about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Ukrainian crisis
Paris, May 6 (Xinhua) -- On the afternoon of May 6, local time, President Xi Jinping clarified China's principled position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Ukraine crisis when jointly meeting reporters after their talks with French President Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the tragedy of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that has been postponed to this day is a test of human conscience, and the international community must take action. We call for the immediate realization of a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza, support for Palestine to become a full member of the United Nations, support for the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation, restart the "two-state solution", and achieve lasting peace in the Middle East.
Xi Jinping emphasized that China has repeatedly stated its position on the Ukraine crisis. China is neither the creator of the crisis nor a party or participant. However, we have not watched from the other side but have been playing an active role in achieving peace. The Chinese government’s special representative for Eurasian affairs has launched the third round of shuttle mediation. At the same time, we oppose using the Ukraine crisis to shift blame, smear third countries, and incite a "new cold war." History has repeatedly proven that any conflict can ultimately be resolved only through negotiation. We call on all parties to restart contact and dialogue and gradually accumulate mutual trust; support the timely convening of an international peace conference recognized by Russia and Ukraine, where all parties participate equally, and discuss all peace options fairly; and support the construction of a balanced, effective, and sustainable European security framework.
