China Building Materials Engineering won the 2023 National Technological Invention Award, with original breakthrough in information display glass
On the morning of June 24, the 2023 National Science and Technology Conference, the National Science and Technology Awards Conference, and the Academicians Conference of the two academies were grandly held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The "Key Technology and Equipment for Ultra-thin Float Glass Substrates for High-Generation TFT-LCDs" jointly completed by China National Building Materials International Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and China National Building Materials Glass New Materials Research Institute was awarded the second prize of the National Technological Invention Award. Peng Shou, the first person to complete the project, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chief scientist of China National Building Materials Group, and chairman of China National Building Materials International Engineering Group Co., Ltd., attended the conference.
"Key technologies and equipment for high-generation TFT-LCD ultra-thin float glass substrates" is a national key R&D project of the "13th Five-Year Plan". After five years of research and development, the China National Building Materials Engineering Group team invented a new "precious metal flow channel ultra-thin float" process for TFT-LCD glass substrates, and created new float liquid crystal display glass substrate manufacturing technologies and equipment with Chinese characteristics.
In recent years, China National Building Material Engineering Group has actively implemented the national strategic deployment of scientific and technological innovation, fully leveraging China National Building Material Group's role as a source of original technology for new glass materials. It has focused on the engineering of independent innovation results in core technologies, and made every effort to create "national materials". It has achieved a global high-end glass technology engineering and high-end glass equipment market share of over 65%, helping China's glass industry to make the leap from "following" to "leading".
After ten years of hard work on key core technologies and engineering results transformation, the company independently built China's first 8.5-generation float glass substrate demonstration production line, which is an innovative practice of the "three-chain integration" of innovation chain, engineering chain and industrial chain. The project has been authorized with 43 Chinese invention patents, 3 international patents, and 3 national standards, achieving a breakthrough from 0 to 1 in my country's high-generation TFT-LCD glass substrate technology with completely independent intellectual property rights, and ensuring the strategic security of my country's trillion-level information display industry.
