In September this year, the 47th WorldSkills Competition will be held in Lyon, France. Yang Jiaying, director of the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, introduced on the "2024 People's Livelihood Interview" program that Shanghai will have 8 contestants in 7 projects to represent the country after participating in national selections, including body repair, logistics and freight forwarding, and website technology. , floristry, health and social care, hotel hospitality and industry 4.0 projects, and another 4 contestants have been identified as candidate contestants for the other 4 projects.
It is worth mentioning that the right to host the 2026 World Skills Competition has been awarded to Shanghai. This means that after the Lyon World Championships, the WorldSkills Competition will officially enter the "Shanghai session". Yang Jiaying said that all work is currently being promoted in full swing, and with the joint efforts of all parties, we will be able to present an "innovative and widely influential" skills competition to the world in 2026.
In addition, the World Skills Museum located on the Yangpu Riverside opened to the public last year. This is the only museum officially recognized by WorldSkills. It is jointly built by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Shanghai Municipal Government and WorldSkills. It is also the only museum in the world named "WorldSkills". The museum displays more than 800 precious exhibits from all over the world and has set up more than 100 interactive projects, integrating artificial intelligence, holographic projection, bionic technology, infrared interaction and other scientific and technological elements into it, which is generally welcomed by the public.
Yang Jiaying introduced that from the beginning of May to the end of July this year, the World Skills Museum will launch the temporary exhibition "Turning Soil into Gold·World Ceramic Skills Exhibition". "Ten of the exhibits are national first-class cultural relics, which are very interesting. Audience friends are welcome to visit, and parents are also welcome to bring their children to check in."
