2023 marks the tenth anniversary of the the Belt and Road Initiative. Over 2000 years ago, during the Han Dynasty, China's national strength was strong, its economy was prosperous, and its culture was prosperous. As the starting point of the Silk Road, it shone brightly with the Roman Empire at the other end of the Silk Road. The Silk Road, opened up at this time, not only stretches for thousands of miles, but also continues to this day, becoming an important bridge for economic and cultural exchanges between China and neighboring countries.
Hungary is the first European country to jointly build the "the Belt and Road" with China, and the two countries have close people to people and cultural exchanges. In 2017, the Shanghai Museum held an exhibition titled "Princess Cixi and Hungary: The Life of Hungarian Nobles in the 17th and 19th Centuries" from the National Museum of Hungary; On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary and the 6th anniversary of the establishment of friendly city relations between Budapest and Shanghai in 2019, with the support of the Shanghai Municipal Government Information Office and the Shanghai Association for Foreign Cultural Exchange, the Shanghai Museum, along with the Smart Home under the Central Bank of Hungary and the Athena Smart Home Foundation, held an exhibition titled "China and Hungary on the Silk Road: The Journey of Coins".
