China's first carbon star "Jumang" will appear in the environment of the China International Fair for Trade in Services | Special Topic | China
The reporter learned from the media briefing on environmental services held today at the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services that China's first terrestrial ecosystem carbon monitoring satellite, "Jumang," will make its debut in the environmental services theme of the fair.
The Jumang spacecraft was developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and is mainly used for monitoring terrestrial ecosystem carbon, investigating and monitoring terrestrial ecology and resources, monitoring and evaluating national major ecological engineering, and providing business support and research services for environmental protection, surveying and mapping, meteorology, agriculture, disaster reduction and other fields. Satellites have carbon storage statistics, quantitatively monitor the carbon absorption capacity of ecosystems, calculate the global carbon sink status, and provide effective data support for the central deployment of "promoting energy consumption dual control to gradually shift towards carbon emission dual control".
At 11:08 am on August 4, 2022, China successfully launched the Jumang satellite into its designated orbit at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. Before the launch of the Jumang spacecraft, China's carbon sink measurement mainly relied on manual sampling and monitoring of forest vegetation. The successful launch and application of the Jumang spacecraft marks the entry of China's carbon sink monitoring into the era of space-based remote sensing, helping the country to enhance its voice and leadership in responding to global climate change.
Jumang is the god of wood, spring, and the god of the East in ancient Chinese folk mythology, responsible for the germination and growth of trees. The satellite named "Jumang" is the world's first remote sensing satellite for active passive joint observation of forest carbon sinks. It can achieve high-precision quantitative remote sensing measurements of forest vegetation biomass, aerosol distribution, and chlorophyll fluorescence, making it the "king of space carbon sinks". The "Jumang Hao" can also complete work in multiple fields, with dozens of combinations calculated according to load working modes.
According to officials from the China Aerospace Science and Technology International Exchange Center, many of China's aerospace explorations are named after ancient mythological and legendary figures, such as "Zhurong" exploring the fire, "Xihe" chasing the sun, and "Chang'e" exploring the moon. The appearance of the Jumang spacecraft once again makes people feel the pace of China's aerospace innovation and development, serving the national strategy.
At the media briefing, Zhou Yiwei, the General Manager of Capital Exhibition Co., Ltd., introduced the preparation status and distinctive highlights of the environmental service topic. He said that the main venue for the environmental services theme of the Fair is located in the National Stadium, with the theme of "dual carbon empowerment and revitalization of innovation". The theme of environmental services revolves around promoting green transformation, energy conservation and carbon reduction, ecological governance, etc. By expanding the import and export of energy-saving technologies, strengthening international cooperation in green technologies, opening up channels for intergovernmental cooperation, focusing on technological innovation, achieving the dual carbon strategy goals, and building a high-level display, exchange, trade, and investment platform for enterprise cooperation.
Zhou Yiwei said that in addition to the debut of the first carbon monitoring satellite "Jumang", "Three Barrels of Oil" will once again gather at the Environmental Services Special Topic of the China International Fair for Trade in Services. PetroChina will showcase the practices of enterprises to accelerate green and low-carbon transformation, improve oil and gas commodity rates and energy utilization efficiency, Sinopec will showcase the achievements of building "China's first hydrogen energy company" and vigorously expanding photovoltaic wind power business. CNOOC will sign a joint research agreement with the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Shell, and ExxonMobil to develop and operate carbon capture, utilization, and storage projects in the Daya Bay area. China Gold Corporation showcases its leading role in the construction of the industry's green standard system. Zhongke Haishi Technology Co., Ltd. shows the topological soft gel "毸毸毸毸毸毸毸毸毸毸毸毸毸毸毸毸毸. Jiangling Lexing New Energy Company showcases China's first L4 level autonomous freight vehicle. The International Green Economy Association, as one of the organizing units, will once again participate in the exhibition with the "Carbon Neutrality and Green Technology" exhibition group. The exhibition group has strong capabilities, including China Railway Construction, China Construction Technology, Beijing Chaoyang Environmental Group, Italy's Calioma, Yingke Law Firm, etc.
In addition, during the special exhibition, Capital Exhibition Group also collaborated with three national institutions, namely the Hydrogen Energy Committee of the China Energy Conservation Association, the China Biodiversity and Green Development Foundation, and the China Aerospace Science and Technology International Exchange Center, to hold six themed forums at the National Stadium.
