At 14:03 on June 1, a domestic C919 aircraft carrying 120 Hong Kong college students will take off from Hong Kong International Airport to Shanghai, launching the "Shanghai and Hong Kong Come Together in Shanghai" young student internship program.
This "Hong Kong-Shanghai" commercial charter flight became the first overseas commercial flight of C919. According to the plan, when the plane lands at Hongqiao International Airport, it will receive the highest civil aviation etiquette - "passing the water gate."
Although the flight was in the afternoon, Hong Kong students arrived at the Hong Kong International Airport one after another at 10 a.m. to prepare for their flight.
It is reported that Hong Kong students come from the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Metropolitan University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, etc., and will go to Shanghai for internships at state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, and foreign enterprises. “I’m about to start my one-and-a-half-month internship in Shanghai. I’m really looking forward to it.” Liu Zhiyi, a second-year Bachelor of Economics and Finance student at the University of Hong Kong, is originally from Shanghai and will go to the International Business Department of East China Electric Power Design Institute for an internship. “I hope to learn solid skills here. Professional knowledge, understanding of how large enterprises operate, increasing knowledge and improving capabilities.”

Lin Junxi, a student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, told reporters, "I am very looking forward to it and very excited. I have flown Airbus or Boeing aircraft in the past, and I really want to experience the feeling of a large domestically produced aircraft in China."
In December last year, the domestically produced C919 and ARJ21 came to Hong Kong for the first time and flew over Victoria Harbor, setting off an "aviation boom" in Hong Kong. "We are just thinking that this year is the fifteenth year of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Internship Program. Can Hong Kong students have the opportunity to fly to Shanghai on a large domestic aircraft to start their internship journey?" Yang Yongkeng, chairman of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Youth Federation, told reporters, this This proposal received strong support from various departments in Shanghai and Hong Kong, and the dream of Hong Kong students was realized.
At 11 o'clock, C919 flew to Hong Kong. On-site staff and reporters raised their mobile phones to record this historic scene.
At 12:10, a brief farewell ceremony was held at Gate 8 of the airport. "Today, C919 returns to Hong Kong, transporting Hong Kong youth to Shanghai to experience mainland workplace life." said Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Chan Kwok-kee, "I believe that for all students, this experience will be unforgettable and useful for life. I am full of enthusiasm."
