Since the summer vacation, the two-way passenger flow from Beijing South Station to and from Beijing has remained high, with an average of 177000 passengers sent and 170000 arriving per day, mainly focusing on tourism, student, and family visits, mainly concentrated in Tianjin, Jinan, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Hefei, Nanjing, Qingdao, and other directions.
To greatly improve the waiting environment for passengers taking ride hailing services, Beijing South Station has built two air-conditioned waiting areas in the east and west underground parking lot ride hailing areas. Each waiting area covers an area of approximately 500 square meters, with external isolation railings to achieve separation of people and vehicles. The interior is equipped with air conditioning and seats, and the indoor temperature is maintained at 26 to 28 degrees Celsius. Beijing South Station has set up continuous and exclusive colored eye-catching signage in the passage from the parking lot to the air conditioning waiting area for ride hailing services, making it convenient for passengers to find the air conditioning waiting area.
Beijing South Station has also opened up night time ride hailing services for passengers on the South and North squares. At the same time, it has collaborated with key station area management committees and the Municipal Transportation Commission to implement comprehensive measures for station area management, optimizing the flow of passengers on and off the South Square bus, opening up the North Square taxi drop off function, diverting vehicles into the parking lot for drop off, and achieving normal delayed operation of the summer subway. Multiple measures have been taken to improve the efficiency of station area transportation connection.
During the summer transportation period, Beijing South Station regularly opens four rapid entry halls for the Beijing Shanghai high-speed railway and the Beijing Tianjin intercity railway on the basement level, which are synchronized with the ticket gates in the second floor waiting room for ticket inspection and release, diverting and alleviating passenger flow pressure, greatly shortening the time for passengers to check and enter the station.
In addition, Beijing South Station has added 12 self-service mobile phone charging stations in the waiting room, providing different types of charging cables and sockets, and providing free charging services for passengers.
