Making rice dumplings, making sachets, throwing five poisons, rowing dragon boats, and making bamboo paintings... On June 1, the second "One School Three Districts" Taiwan Federation Friendship and Cross-Strait Young Students Traditional Cultural Exchange Activities were held at East China Normal University held.
Professor Tian Zhaoyuan from the Institute of Folklore, School of Social Development, East China Normal University, gave a rich lecture on Dragon Boat Festival culture with the title of "Vibrant Dragon Boat Festival and Human Intangible Cultural Heritage's Family and Country Feelings", expounding the Chinese national spirit from the origin and inheritance of the Dragon Boat Festival. The festival expression form analyzes the traditional cultural connotation and feelings of family, country and world contained in the Dragon Boat Festival.
"The rice dumplings made here are still very different from those in Taiwan. Our fillings will be richer in variety, such as peanuts." Zhou Zonglin, a second-year graduate student at Tongji University, said that at this exchange event, he not only experienced traditional rice dumplings He also learned about the craftsmanship and met many international students from Taiwan like him.

In the process of making rice dumplings, young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait paired up with each other to experience traditional skills. The garden party brings the traditional cultural experience of the Dragon Boat Festival to a climax. Various traditional Chinese cultural experience activities such as egg setting, colorful rice dumpling throwing, five poison throwing, dragon boat rowing, sachet making, origami dragon boat, bamboo weaving, and Dragon Boat Festival tea tasting attracted many participants and attracted young students and Taiwan compatriots from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Taiwanese citizens experienced the traditional Dragon Boat Festival culture through hands-on production and friendly competitions.
At the Dragon Boat Festival party, Zhang Juncheng, an exchange student from Fudan University, experienced the making of sachets for the intangible cultural heritage project for the first time. Under the guidance of student volunteers from East China Normal University, he made a dragon-shaped sachet. Zhang Juncheng said: "These traditional cultures are the most precious spiritual wealth of mankind. The experience has further stimulated my interest and love for traditional culture."
The event not only allowed young students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait and Taiwanese compatriots and relatives to deepen their understanding of the Dragon Boat Festival culture through interaction, but also brought them closer together in the shared cultural memory, demonstrating the deep friendship of "one family across the Taiwan Strait".
