The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters launched a Level 4 emergency response to drought in Shandong and Henan
Recently, drought conditions in North China and the Huanghuai region have continued to develop. The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters launched a Level 4 emergency response to drought relief in Shandong and Henan provinces at 12:00 on June 12, and sent two working groups to the two provinces to assist and guide drought relief work.
Reporters learned from the Ministry of Emergency Management that recently, precipitation in parts of southern North China, Huanghuai, Jianghuai, Hubei, and Shaanxi has been more than 50% lower than the same period in previous years, and temperatures have continued to be high, causing drought to develop rapidly. According to the meteorological department's forecast, the above-mentioned regions will continue to experience high temperatures and little rain for some time to come, and the drought may further develop. The overall drought situation in the country is currently lighter than the same period in previous years, with drought areas relatively concentrated and the drought situation in drought-affected areas generally under control.
On the 12th, the Office of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Ministry of Emergency Management organized a joint consultation among meteorological, water conservancy, agriculture and rural departments, and conducted video dispatches to key provinces such as Hebei, Shanxi, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, and Shaanxi to analyze the development trend of drought in key areas and deploy drought relief and disaster reduction work.
A relevant official from the Ministry of Emergency Management pointed out that it is currently the critical period of the "three summer" seasons, and all localities must strictly implement the drought resistance responsibility system to ensure the safety of urban and rural water supply and food production; strengthen drought monitoring and analysis and judgment, and formulate and improve drought resistance plans; give full play to the advantages of meteorological, water conservancy, agriculture and rural areas and other departments, and do a good job in forecasting and early warning, water volume scheduling, agricultural technical guidance and other work; adhere to the dual-pronged approach of flood control and drought relief, and strictly prevent serious disaster losses caused by short-term heavy rainfall and sudden transition from drought to flood.
The Ministry of Water Resources has launched a Level IV emergency response for drought prevention in eight provinces
