They also experienced intelligent facilities, enjoyed free health clinics and legal consulting services provided by a professional team, and personally felt the fun and achievements of lifelong learning.
The reporter of Jiefang Daily and Shangguan News learned that Shanghai University for the Aged currently has more than 700 classes, serving 24,000 students each semester, and the courses cover a variety of fields from traditional arts to modern technology. In addition to popular classic courses such as piano, vocal music, calligraphy, and painting, new courses such as smartphone applications and short video production are also very popular, reflecting the eager pursuit of the elderly group for updated knowledge and skills.
On the basis of cooperating with Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank to open teaching sites, the school has comprehensively expanded its school network and curriculum system in the new school year. The school has added teaching sites in Shanghai Open University Silver Hair e-school and launched courses such as tea art, calligraphy and painting, and coffee making; cooperated with Shanghai Citizen Foreign Language Learning Center established by Shanghai Open University to create an online and offline integrated curriculum system; and also built research and study bases with many institutions, including innovative and diversified courses opened in cooperation with Shanghai Natural History Museum, to meet the more distinctive and personalized learning needs of elderly friends.
Zheng Yihui, vice president of Shanghai Open University and president of Shanghai University for the Aged, said: "We hope that through such activities, more people will feel the power of learning, see the elegance of elderly friends in learning, and experience the true meaning of 'learning and happiness in old age'."
On the open day, Shanghai University for the Aged also signed party-building agreements with the School of Education of Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Greening Management Guidance Station, Huangpu District Veterans Affairs Bureau, Bank of China Shanghai Xuhui Branch and other units to deepen inter-school cooperation in the field of senior citizen education and provide more professional and diversified learning resources for elderly friends.
It is worth mentioning that the event also launched innovative courses such as "AI and Healthy and Fashionable Lifestyle for Middle-aged and Elderly People", "Electric Blowgun", and "Psychology of Unlocking the Code of Health". Elderly friends have the opportunity to make appointments in advance on site to register for some courses, and school volunteers are also enthusiastic to assist them in visiting, consulting and pre-registering.
