From June 7 to 9, the original musical "Light and Shadow Boys" premiered at the Beijing Erqi Theater, and will land on the Shanghai People's Grand Stage on June 13 for 6 consecutive performances, and then tour in Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou and other cities in the Yangtze River Delta.
"Light and Shadow Boys" took three years to prepare. It is based on the entertainment industry ecology and 30 original music pieces with various styles as a link. It tells the story of two dream-seeking teenagers, Ou Shinan and Xiang Zhige, who grew up in thorns. Composer Liu Xuandou, who composed the hit TV series song "Know or Not", serves as the composer, arranger and music director of "Light and Shadow Boy", and Guo Zhen, associate professor at the China Conservatory of Music, serves as the director of the play. With its delicate youth story, refinement of the real ecology of the entertainment industry, and touching fateful entanglements, "Light and Shadow Boy" successfully ignited the audience at its premiere.

In "Light and Shadow Boy", the role of Ou Shinan is played by Xu Ziwei, Tian Hongjie, Rao Hengyu, and Huang Weiming, and the role of Xiang Zhige is played by Chen Renquan, Zhu Yancheng, Tang Jiaqi, and Liu Quanjun. It was the first time for many actors to appear on stage in a musical, and their mental journeys off stage echoed the stories of the characters in the play. "The cast selection of "Light and Shadow Boys" is standardized and careful." Liu Jing revealed that at the end of 2021, the crew began internal auditions and selections, and then conducted an open recruitment of actors. "These actors conducted offline rehearsal hall interviews and recording studios in Beijing and Shanghai respectively. In the second audition, based on the matching of the role’s needs, singing ability, acting ability, and dancing ability, the final selection was made.”
"Light and Shadow Boy" specially sets up the mysterious "Phantom" role.
