It can pry... and give Lianyungang a "fulcrum"
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the the Belt and Road Initiative. On the 15th, the China Europe Railway International Cooperation Forum will open in Lianyungang, Jiangsu.
From January to August this year, the Lianyungang Port located in the eastern part of the Eurasian continent exported 215000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 73.29%, becoming the third ranked roll on/roll off vehicle terminal in China; Looking to the west, more than 4000 kilometers away from Khorgos, Kazakhstan - the East Gate Waterless Port, Chinese cars are neatly placed, ready to be sent to Central Asian countries. Kazakhstan's young man Mahejiang has a strong voice in this matter. In recent years, there have been more and more Chinese cars on the roads in his hometown of Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. However, 10 years ago, Chinese cars were still very rare. Now working in the Chinese Management Department of the Sino Kazakhstan Logistics Cooperation Base, he believes that this is one of the changes brought about by the "the Belt and Road" initiative. As early as 2005, the roll on/roll off business of Lianyungang Port had begun, and it was not until 2018 that there was explosive growth - the number in 2018 was 21000, and it will reach 226000 by 2022, achieving double-digit growth for five consecutive years. Behind this is that the automobile companies above Lianyungang Port, as a breakthrough, actively expand Chery, Volvo and other automobile export businesses. The deeper reason is that Lianyungang is playing an increasingly prominent role as a strong fulcrum of the "the Belt and Road". Next, Lianyungang Port will give full play to the advantages of the "the Belt and Road" land sea junction hub, speed up the application for the qualification of vehicle import ports, and build Lianyungang Port into a domestic and foreign import and export vehicle base and distribution center. The port is the key and potential for Lianyungang to carry out national strategy and expand its opening-up. In recent years, Lianyungang has proposed a new goal of building a "Ten Million TEUs, Oriental Port". Nowadays, the construction of Lianyungang's international hub seaport is being upgraded and expanded. The second phase of the 300000 ton waterway project and the extension section of the 300000 ton waterway in Xuwei Port area have been fully completed. Projects such as the 400000 ton ore terminal, 300000 ton crude oil terminal, and the first phase of the intelligent container terminal have started construction. Lianyungang is headed for the ocean at one end and connected to the land bridge at the other. In order to open the land sea channel, Lianyungang's international trains directly reach the main stations in Central Asia, and domestic trains cover the major node cities along the New Eurasian Continental Bridge... After the "the Belt and Road" initiative was put forward, Lianyungang was identified by the state as the eastern starting point of the International Economic Cooperation Corridor of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge, the Sino Kazakhstan Logistics Cooperation Base and the SCO Seagoing Base. As a new platform for Lianyungang to connect land and sea and open up to the outside world, the Sino Kazakhstan Logistics Cooperation Base was established in 2014 under the joint witness of the two heads of state. It is the first economic and trade cooperation entity project launched after the "the Belt and Road" initiative was put forward. Nowadays, the "two bases and one train", including the China Kazakhstan Logistics Cooperation Base, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Logistics Park, and the China Europe Express, have built a logistics corridor spanning the east and west in Lianyungang. Not only are wheat, fertilizers, and other goods transported to the east, but also products such as household appliances and cars that are constantly transported to the west. As an important hub connecting Central Asia and the Pacific Rim, Lianyungang International Express has always been at the forefront of the country, connecting five major domestic transit ports and forming six operational routes, covering major stations in Central Asia. Data shows that since the first international train was opened nationwide in 1992, Lianyun
