The more warm the reunion of countless families, the more inseparable it is from the selfless dedication of Chinese soldiers who are waiting for peace. On September 16th, the 23rd National Defense Education Day, and also on the occasion of the Mid Autumn Festival and National Day, Hongkou District, as the birthplace and birthplace of the five-star red flag of the People's Republic of China, held the theme activities of "Standing guard and protecting the flag for 60 seconds, everyone is a flag guard" and "Growing under the flag" at the National Flag Square of the Fourth National Congress Memorial Hall of the Communist Party of China, witnessing the positions of soldiers and experiencing the steadfastness of sentinels.
Through a 3-hour companionship, the event takes the general public, especially teenagers and children, to experience the vast and magnificent waters of our motherland. Together with the sentinels of the 94804 unit of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, they guard the blue sea and sky, contributing to the peace and security of our country.
Hongkou has always regarded national flag culture as an important part of patriotic education aimed at citizens, especially young people and children, and actively created brand activities such as "Five Star Red Flag Entering Ten Thousand Families" and "Growing Under the National Flag". At the beginning of this event, a flag raising ceremony was held, accompanied by a powerful flag raising song. Two flag raising hands and four flag protectors, led by firefighters, held their heads high and walked in neat and uniform steps, escorting the five-star red flag towards the flag raising platform. The solemn national anthem rings, the five-star red flag rises slowly, fluttering in the wind. All personnel stand solemnly and sing the national anthem together, expressing infinite love and high respect for the motherland.
During the event, the Party and Youth League teachers and Young Pioneers from the junior high school department of Shanghai Changqing School brought a choir performance of "Me and My Motherland", expressing their love for the motherland through singing.
Moved by Shanghai figures, recipients of the Shanghai Youth May Fourth Medal, and other advanced representatives from various fields, as well as citizens and young children, under the guidance of staff, lined up to enter designated positions to participate in activities. With a special companionship, they stood on the same post as frontline sentinels, expressing their high respect to border defense officers and soldiers who protect the motherland and the people.
The event received a warm response from the general public, and soon a long queue was formed, with lively and lovely children, energetic young people, and elderly people in need of companionship. They all said that queuing was "worth it!"
People on site can receive exquisite national defense education souvenirs such as special flag postcards and military camp figurines for free as long as they sign the commitment letter of the flag protection initiative. Many participants receive postcards with a commemorative stamp on the back cover and put them in a red mailbox to send to family and friends. The Young Pioneers on site also actively participated in the red scarf medal "flag guard" medal competition activity, expressing their desire to become a small flag guard.
