The new complex "Gathering" opens, and the old landmark of Shanghai Night City, Pacific Department Store, turns around in a magnificent way
On September 21st, the office and commercial project "Gathering" located in the business golden circle of Jing'an Never Night City opened. "Huiji" was created by Kerry Construction Group, which comprehensively upgraded and renovated the commercial podium of Kerry Night City Phase I. This is also the original site of the iconic "Pacific Department Store" in the former Night City.
The first phase of Kerry Night City was completed in 1997 and was Kerry's first commercial complex project in Shanghai. At that time, the "Pacific Department Store" recruited was a fashionable shopping mall in the mouths of Shanghai residents. In 2020, after the lease of "Pacific Department Store" expired and exited, Kerry Night City adapted to the changing times and transformed the former "Pacific Department Store" into a new form of project that broke the boundaries of office and business, providing a unique choice for regional business offices and daily life.
The total construction area of "Gathering" is 42567 square meters, and the commercial space occupies the first to second underground floors; The office space occupies three to five floors. In terms of design and renovation, "Huiji" opens up the atrium floor slab of the department store era, restores the overhanging design, and introduces more natural light into the interior. The design concept is "urban forest light box", supplemented by various forms of indoor and outdoor greening arrangements, creating a space atmosphere of inspiration healing and humanistic nature.
The construction party introduced that "Gathering" has sacrificed some operating space, broken the traditional isolation between commercial and office spaces, and made the relationship between people and space closer. For example, natural skylight is introduced into a courtyard that rises four floors above the ground, creating a "photosynthetic courtyard" effect; A multimedia space equipped with a stage style indoor terrace has been created on the third floor; An interactive bridge is designed between the second and third floors, inspired by the ancient bridge in Jiangnan, China, connecting the three major functional spaces of commercial, office, and natural spaces.
In terms of commercial formats, "Gathering" has launched a new form of "lightweight" office commerce. Kerry Construction conducted in-depth research on the needs of surrounding white-collar workers and community customers, carefully selecting experiential retail, gathering social gatherings, fitness, boxing and Pilates, dance and fitness, coffee and food, floral and green plants, and other supporting office and living services, so that consumers can meet their daily basic needs while achieving physical and emotional healing and relaxation. We hope to create a community commercial entity that is "must visit every three days" for hundreds of thousands of office workers and residents in the Suhe Bay area. The collection has introduced the first "PK Fighter Club Restaurant" in Shanghai, a new branch of the celebrity mentor dance studio "Fancy Fancy" favored by young people, an immersive experience space "Black Museum" for exhibitions, and the popular indoor stone holding new brand "Banana Climbing" Shanghai's first store.
During the opening period, "Gathering" planned a variety of cultural and artistic activities around the theme of "healing power". For example, a new large-scale art installation called "Sprout Forest" has been set up in the "photosynthetic atrium" space, creating a playful, joyful, and healing "surreal" forest with imagined leaves, stems, flowers, and giant plant sculptures.
