The commemorative event for the 70th anniversary of the passing of Master Yuanying was held at Longhua Temple in Shanghai
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the passing of Master Yuan Ying, a famous monk in modern Chinese history and the first president of the China Buddhist Association. In order to commemorate and inherit Master Yuan Ying's patriotic and religious spirit and Buddhist thoughts, and promote the sinicization of Buddhism, a series of commemorative activities for the 70th anniversary of Master Yuan Ying's passing, sponsored by the China Buddhist Association, co organized by the Shanghai Buddhist Association, and organized by the Longhua Ancient Temple and Yuanming Lecture Hall in Shanghai, were held on September 19th at the Longhua Ancient Temple. The event includes three parts: a tribute ceremony, the opening ceremony of the calligraphy exhibition and the opening ceremony of the calligraphy singing collection, and a poetry and music event.
The President of the China Buddhist Association, Master Yan Jue, Vice Presidents, Master Awakening and Master Zhengci, Secretary General Liu Wei, Deputy Secretary General, Masters Puzheng, Guangquan, Qiushuang, and Zhaocheng, and Vice President of the China Buddhist Academy, Master Qingyuan; Honorary President of the American Buddhist Association and Abbot of Raymond Temple in New York, USA, Master Rayfa; Representative of National Famous Calligraphers; Representatives from the Buddhist community in the three provinces and one city of the Yangtze River Delta, Fujian, Hong Kong, and other places, as well as some disciples of the Shanghai Buddhist community, were invited to attend the opening ceremony of the National Famous Calligraphy Exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the passing of Master Yuan Ying and the launch of the Calligraphy Song Collection in the afternoon.

To showcase Master Yuan Ying's rich Buddhist thoughts and profound patriotism, Longhua Ancient Temple has specially selected more than 70 Zen poems by Master Yuan Ying, and invited more than 70 famous poets from across the country to sing in unison. At the same time, it has invited the chairpersons of calligraphers associations in various provinces and cities, as well as some famous calligraphers from Shanghai, to write and print them into a book, expressing the deep remembrance and respect of Master Yuan Ying from both inside and outside the temple.

Shanghai is the birthplace of Master Yuan Ying's dedication to protecting the country and the world, resisting aggression and saving the nation. The Buddhist community in Shanghai is determined to actively inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of patriotism and love for education of senior monks, promote the great patriotic and protective spirit of Master Yuan Ying, who holds the responsibility for the survival of the country, and inherit his sincere sense of responsibility for the rise and fall of Buddhism. He aims to learn from his profound achievements and noble cultivation of "refining Buddhism, regulating oneself and benefiting others".
That evening, the 70th anniversary commemoration of the passing of Master Yuan Ying, the "Ten Directions of Yuanguang" Poetry and Music Festival, was held. Artists such as Qiao Zhen and Fang Jinlong who were invited to stage presented an artistic feast to the public.
