The 2023 ESG Global Leaders Conference was held in Shanghai
On September 13th, the 2023 ESG Global Leaders Conference opened at the Green Bund Center in Huangpu District. During the period from September 13th to 15th, the attending guests will conduct in-depth discussions on topics such as "sustainable economic growth, social development, and environmental protection", including focusing on China's high-quality development and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on the path of ESG sustainable development, and exploring the theory and practice of global ESG. ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance. Since the United Nations Global Compact first proposed the concept of ESG in 2004, ESG has become an important reference frame for measuring the sustainable and high-quality development of enterprises. This conference is an important promotion of ESG concepts on a global scale. The conference invited heavyweight guests including 7 Nobel laureates, 34 representatives of top experts and scholars, 48 representatives of entrepreneurs, and 56 representatives of international organizations.
Shanghai actively promotes ESG concepts and conducts related businesses, especially in promoting green finance and sustainable development. The attending guests believe that the deepening of ESG concepts and related evaluation systems can better promote Shanghai's financial innovation and transformation, enabling it to occupy an advantageous position in domestic and foreign financial markets.
