In Baoshan, Shanghai, there are many "little brother stations" along the streets in residential areas, where you can drink water and charge for free. Shanghai | Station | Little Brother
Changlin Road is a typical main road in residential areas, with densely populated residential communities on both sides. There are many schools along the street, developed underground businesses, and small community commercial centers. This lively neighborhood is also a place where outdoor workers such as delivery guys and delivery riders gather relatively.
Qu Bin has been working at the Baoshan Temple Branch of China Post EMS for over ten years and is very familiar with the surrounding area of Changlin Road. "Running here all day, we can immediately notice what's new on the road, but what everyone really cares about is still a place to shade from the sun and rain, stop and rest." Recently, a newly added "post station" has attracted the attention of Qu Bin and colleagues.
More eye-catching and convenient site selection, with more complete facilities and supporting facilities
Changlin Road stands at the entrance of the residential community, with European style arches and corridors providing a cool place. The original rental storefront has been renovated and replaced with a prominent and lively "Enjoy the Station" logo. Changxiang Station is a party and mass service platform established in Baoshan District for new employment groups such as delivery drivers and delivery riders. It is also an outdoor worker love relay station where environmental sanitation workers, taxi drivers, traffic police officers and other outdoor workers can enjoy convenient services.
Inside the station
Unlike the four "Changxiang Stations" previously established in Miaohang Town, which are located in the office park, community party and mass service center, social security center, and communication business outlets, this station integrates into the community and its location is more in line with the actual needs of users. "We ride assistive vehicles carrying things, which makes us feel a bit uneasy when entering indoors. The space along the streets and corridors is also large, and we can see the outside through the windows. There is no need to worry when blowing air conditioning or taking shelter inside." Qu Bin said that after the station opened in August, many colleagues have come to take a break.
On a weekday afternoon, Zou Shitong, a delivery guy from Meituan, who was born in the 2000s, came to the post station to charge his phone during the delivery period. He met a nearby SF Express guy who had just finished charging and was ready to leave. Although he didn't bring a charging cable with him, Xiao Zou didn't worry. "Last time I came, the volunteer told me that the socket here is' enough 'and there are also several multi head charging cables, which are convenient for us to use."
Considering various needs
After running takeout for two years, Xiao Zou delivered an average of thirty to forty orders per day. It was his norm to drive at full speed during peak hours and rest during low peak hours. In his opinion, although the Changlin Road station is not a large area, its internal facilities are equipped with humanized facilities, including a water dispenser that provides hot and cold water, air conditioning, wireless network, and a washbasin equipped with hand sanitizer and tissues, meeting several basic needs. In addition, there is a microwave and refrigerator in the space. When there is plenty of time, you can also sit in front of the TV and watch programs to relax. Essential summer products such as toilet water and cool oil are also placed in prominent places.
The considerate post station made the young men feel warm, and some people recorded their feelings with notes at that time. On the guestbook of the post station, the reporter saw a message: "At 4:30 on September 3, it suddenly rained heavy rainstorm. Alas, I was in a bad mood and irritable. Fortunately, there was a post station to take shelter from the rain. Thank you very much!" It was signed as "Express Brother". The next day, the staff of the Standing Home Neighborhood Committee responsible for station maintenance replied to the message from the young man, "Welcome to Changxiang Station! When you're tired, take a break, and when you're thirsty, drink some water. May the station become your warm harbor."
Warm hearted dialogue
The staff of the neighborhood committee stated that the post station is open from 8am to 8pm, and is open on weekends and holidays. Everyone takes good care of the internal environmental facilities.
According to preliminary research by relevant departments in Miaohang Town, the number of new employment groups radiated by Changlin Road Station is about 250 people. Due to the characteristics of their work, they travel through the streets and alleys every day and have a better understanding of the community and street conditions. Based on this, Miaohang Town issued appointment letters to four young representatives and included them in the community's "micro grid" inspector team. Deliveryman Wang Chenyang said that with his new identity, he will be more cautious when delivering orders. When he sees "disharmonious" areas in the community, he will take photos and send them to the group to help relevant departments discover problems and rectify them in a timely manner.
Little brother's small wish
Multi functional container, can rest and charge
In Baoshan, there is also a special "Changxiang Station" located in the Nuoyuan Industrial Park, which is the "headquarters" of various riders. According to Jin Defeng, the person in charge of the park, the park is located on Nanda Road in Dachang Town, covering an area of 20 acres with convenient transportation. Inside, there are pre warehouses for fresh e-commerce Dingdong Maicai and logistics distribution enterprise stations such as SF Express, Zhongtong, Debang, and Dada. The number of new employment groups shuttling between the park every day exceeds 200.
Mr. Lv, who is 42 years old from Anhui, has been working as a rider for five or six years. According to him, this job is different from the daily routine of ordinary office workers. People finish work one after another at four or five o'clock, and Mr. Lv and his colleagues only enter the peak of work. At night, everyone is resting, and they have to be busy until ninety o'clock to stop. Therefore, riders especially cherish the relatively relaxed time in the afternoon. Some take a break to catch up, some make phone calls with family, and some browse short videos for leisure.
Container station
Due to the limited space rented by the company, Mr. Lv and his colleagues used to have to find a place to rest on the outdoor platform next to the warehouse. Young riders would lie on the electric bike in a position that others thought was quite difficult, and their bodies were not so flexible. They could only wrap a layer of plastic film on the wooden pallets commonly seen in the logistics industry as chairs and beds for temporary rest. In May of this year, a post station was added in the park, and Master Lv felt that the lunch break conditions had improved a lot. "There are tables and chairs, which make sitting more comfortable. There is also air conditioning, so there is no need to be afraid on hot days, windy and rainy days."
Container station
The relay station is located at the core of the park, transformed from two containers, connected to water and electricity, and equipped with air conditioning. It is open from 6am to 10pm every day. During the preliminary research, Dachang Town summoned the Town Federation of Trade Unions, the property rights owner Dachang Commercial Company, the Nuoyuan Park, and the express logistics company to jointly participate in the discussion of the station construction plan, collect the demands of riders, and only then did they have the two warm small spaces they have today. One of the rooms is a "resting place", which is equipped with facilities such as a sink, water dispenser, microwave, refrigerator, TV, etc., aiming to alleviate the practical problems of "difficulty in eating, drinking water, charging, and resting" for young men. The other room is a "gas station", with a row of bookshelves and high legged tables and chairs. Interested young men can take a break from their busy schedules to "recharge", and group activities can also be organized there.
In the afternoon, the riders are resting
The person in charge of Dingdong Maicai Station told reporters that there are also dedicated rest spaces for employees inside the station, equipped with sofas, charging plugs, microwaves, and freezers. However, due to limited conditions, the air conditioning vents are far from the rest area. In hot weather, riders still prefer to gather at the "Changxiang Station" to enjoy the coolness.
Warm Space
In order to maintain the station in an orderly manner and provide continuous services, Dachang Town is exploring the implementation of a station "self-management and self-service" model - with the park management party serving as the station manager, and the responsible persons of each express delivery station rotating for management. At the same time, positions such as hygiene team leader and order supervisor are set up to ensure a clean and orderly environment at the station.
