This year's Shanghai Public Welfare Micro Film Festival continues to focus on the theme of "helping others to shine on themselves", soliciting and selecting excellent public welfare themed micro films and short video works from all sectors of society.
It is reported that this year's Shanghai Public Welfare Micro Film Festival will still be divided into a short video group and a micro film group, recruiting entries respectively. The jury of the 9th Shanghai Public Welfare Micro Film Festival will continue to be chaired by renowned Chinese director Zhang Jianya, and will be composed of professionals from media, universities, film and television, public welfare and other industries. Judge Yu Zhiqing, speaking on behalf of the judging committee, believes that public welfare microfilms and short videos are not only a form of artistic expression, but also a form of social responsibility and responsibility, serving as a medium connecting the public and public welfare. The jury will always adhere to a comprehensive evaluation of the content vitality, dissemination tension, and audience influence of each work, uphold the principle of fairness, give fair and objective evaluations to the work, and select works that touch the soul for the general public.
Two representatives of previous award-winning creators shared their insights on the competition on-site. Zhou Jiusen, who once won the Best Public Welfare Theme Works award in the Short Video Group of the 7th Shanghai Public Welfare Micro Film Festival for his work "Chasing Light", believes that only a perspective close to life can have enough infectiousness and make the work more easily accepted by the public.
At the end of 2014, Fan Weiqiang, a senior student at Shanghai Theatre Academy, participated in the first Shanghai Public Welfare Micro Film Festival with his micro film work "The Man in the Center of the Earth". He remembered this vividly and said, "This is a documentary work that reflects coal miners. The award that year gave me a lot of confidence. Later, I participated in this activity multiple times, expanding the filming target to miners, children of miners, left behind children, and construction workers. The Shanghai Public Welfare Micro Film Festival was an important platform for my growth, and it was the encouragement given by the platform that made me enjoy public welfare movies tirelessly. It prompted me to focus more on ordinary people and showcase the greatness of life through their ordinary lives."
