Landscape generates literature, and the context becomes a book. As the root of Shanghai, Songjiang has a long cultural heritage. Starting from the Luji period of the Western Jin Dynasty, Songjiang was named "among the clouds" and gave birth to its own branch of calligraphy art. After the sedimentation and growth of the Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties, calligraphy in the Songjiang region reached the Ming Dynasty. Under the advocacy and leadership of Dong Qichang, the "Cloud Calligraphy School" was formed, becoming the peak of ancient Chinese calligraphy and creating a new history of calligraphy. Since the Qing Dynasty, Yun Jian calligraphers have followed the trend of innovation and developed the Shanghai style calligraphy, forming the current phenomenon of Songjiang calligraphy.
The relevant person in charge of the Songjiang District Cultural and Tourism Bureau stated that from the Western Jin Dynasty to the contemporary era, when reviewing the thousand year calligraphy history of Songjiang, it will be found that the "Yunjian Calligraphy School" exhibits characteristics different from general schools, that is, it is based on "context" as the basis of the growth of the calligraphy school and has never been limited to a certain era or a certain calligrapher. Even during Dong Qichang's era, the appearance of Songjiang calligraphers was diverse and varied.
This exhibition has reconstructed the "Yunjian Calligraphy School" and is the first "Yunjian Calligraphy School" themed special exhibition held in Songjiang. For the first time, from the perspective of Songjiang culture itself, combined with the needs of contemporary Songjiang art development, it has reorganized the calligraphy history of the Songjiang region. Many exhibits are on public display for the first time, including the precursor of the Yunjian School of Calligraphy: Lu Shen, who aspired to surpass and explore new paths in the mid Ming Dynasty, and Mo Ruzhong, who was praised by Dong Qichang as the "Xi Xian" and Mo Shilong's father and son; The climax of the Yunjian School of Calligraphy: the great master Dong Qichang, the literary giant Chen Jiru, the prime minister of the mountains, and the famous Yunjian School of Calligraphy at the end of the Ming Dynasty, Li Baiwen; The lineage of the Yunjian Calligraphy School: Shen Quan and Shen Zongjing, famous calligraphers in the early Qing Dynasty, Wang Hongxu, editor in chief of the Ming History and a native of Hengyun Mountain, Zhang Zhao, one of the "Three Literary Masters of Songjiang", and Zhang Xianghe, a representative calligrapher of the fusion of inscriptions and inscriptions; The Yunjian School of Calligraphy continues to spread, and Cheng Shifa, a master of the Shanghai School of Calligraphy and Painting. They are also shining masters in Shanghai and even in the history of Chinese calligraphy.
