Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng had a discussion and exchange with Chinese guest representatives attending the 2023 ESG Global Leaders Conference today.
Gong Zheng warmly welcomes all guests to participate in the 2023 ESG Global Leaders Conference in Shanghai. He said that carbon neutrality and sustainable development have become global common goals, and practicing the ESG concept has important practical significance for the high-quality development of cities and enterprises. Currently, Shanghai is accelerating the construction of a socialist modern international metropolis with global influence, focusing on building a modern industrial system, accelerating the "two transformations" of traditional industries, vigorously developing three leading industries and six key industries, and taking the lead in laying out four new track industries and five future industry directions. All entrepreneurs are leading ESG practitioners in the industry, and these practices are highly aligned with the concept of high-quality development in Shanghai. We hope that everyone can discover opportunities in Shanghai, optimize their layout, deeply participate in Shanghai's industrial upgrading, actively promote Shanghai's green and low-carbon development, and work together to achieve win-win cooperation. Shanghai will always adhere to the principle of "two unwavering", continuously create a first-class business environment, and build a larger stage, create better conditions, and provide better services for various enterprises to develop in Shanghai.
Cao Guowei, Chairman and CEO of Sina Group, and Tu Guangshao, Executive Director of Shanghai Advanced Finance Institute and Co Chairman of ESG Leadership Forum, participated in the discussion and congratulated the conference on its convening in Shanghai. They expressed gratitude for Shanghai's long-term support for corporate development and expressed that the ESG concept is closely aligned with Shanghai's development strategy, which will promote exchanges between domestic and foreign business communities and help Shanghai achieve high-quality and sustainable development.
