Havana, September 16 (Xinhua) - The two-day "Group of 77 and China" summit concluded in the Cuban capital of Havana on September 16. The summit passed the Havana Declaration, calling for a comprehensive reform of the international financial structure and the construction of a more inclusive and coordinated global economic governance pattern.
The declaration states that the challenges posed by the current unjust international economic order have had a serious impact on developing countries. The international financial structure urgently needs reform, and developing countries should strengthen unity and cooperation to enhance their representation in global decision-making bodies. The declaration states that all relevant parties should strive to achieve global development and win-win cooperation on the basis of consultation, joint construction, and sharing, and promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Based on the theme of this summit - "Current Development Challenges: The Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation", the declaration points out that science, technology, and innovation are of great significance in promoting sustainable development in developing countries. It is necessary to strengthen North South cooperation and South South cooperation, improve the opportunities for developing countries to access and develop science and technology, and establish an open, fair, inclusive, and non discriminatory environment for scientific and technological development. The declaration designates September 16th as "Science, Technology, and Innovation Day for Southern Countries".
The declaration opposes unilateral sanctions against developing countries. During the general debate of the summit, participants from multiple countries urged the United States to end its illegal sanctions against countries such as Cuba and Venezuela, and called on developing countries to unite and fight for development rights.
In addition, the summit passed a separate statement agreeing to Mexico rejoining the Group of 77 and China mechanism.
This summit is hosted by Cuba, the rotating chair of the Group of 77 and China. Heads of state or government from 31 countries, heads of multiple international and regional organizations, and high-level delegations from 116 countries participated in this summit.

Since the 1990s, the relationship between China and the Group of 77 has made significant progress, and coordination and cooperation have been carried out through the mechanism of the Group of 77 and China.
