In early August, there was still a large amount of black floating debris on the river surface, flowing through the gaps of the anti pollution curtain towards the main section of Beizhu Port. How to effectively treat the "cecum" segment? In response to this issue, the Minhang District River Chief Office attaches great importance and immediately conducts an investigation to implement rectification measures.
How is the rectification situation? On the afternoon of September 8th, the reporter returned to the "cecum" section of Beizhu Port. Compared to a month ago, the river environment has greatly changed: a cluster of blooming flowers suddenly appears in the center of a 320 square meter river, and various aquatic plants are planted near the riverbank. The black floating debris is nowhere to be seen, and the water is clear and transparent. Small fish can be vaguely seen swimming in it. The anti fouling curtain originally used to block the overflow of black mud in the "cecum" section of the river has also been transformed into an aquatic plant area

The relevant person in charge of the Minhang District River Chief Office told reporters that after the report was published, the Minhang District River Chief Office, the District Water Bureau, the Xinzhuang Town River Chief Office, the Xinzhuang Town Water Station, the river maintenance unit and other departments jointly investigated and found out that the reason why the "cecum" section turned black and smelly was on the one hand related to the inherent deficiency of the "cecum" section structure. Unilateral interruption of flow caused poor water flow, insufficient self purification ability, and easy formation of oxygen deficient water bodies, leading to water quality problems. Therefore, the river section is prone to siltation. When there is a large discharge of water during rainfall, the sediment is easily overturned, forming black floating debris; On the other hand, tracing the source of rainwater along the southeast corner, it was found that some enterprises and institutions along Shenfu Road have mixed rainwater and sewage, and the discharge of some pollutants on the shore affects water quality.
Medication can only be administered according to the specific symptoms. In order to completely eradicate the problem of black and odor, the River Chief Office of Xinzhuang Town has completed the investigation and rectification of mixed rainwater and sewage on Xinfu Road. After completing the source control, the Minhang District River Chief Office immediately carried out water treatment: the sediment that had accumulated up to 1.5 to 2 meters was cleared, and aquatic plants such as Zailihua, water lilies, and Jinqiancao were planted to improve the self purification capacity of the water in this section.
The Minhang District River Chief Office stated that it will urge the responsible units for management and maintenance to continue to do a good job in the daily maintenance of rivers and pipelines, timely pay attention to changes in water quality, and avoid repeated problems.
