Recovery is on the way. Shanghai issued the first cold wave warning in the Year of the Dragon, and a new round of widespread rain, snow and freezing weather is coming.
Starting today, the calm weather pattern will gradually turn "crazy". A new wave of strong cold air is affecting our country. After bringing about a severe and short-term cooling, a strong warming will sweep across most of the central and eastern regions, and the temperature will rise again.
Shanghai is full of heat today, with temperatures soaring. The highest temperature in the central city has been fixed at 22.9°C, ranking third among the highest temperatures in the same period in mid-February of the 21st century. However, in these days that are as warm as early summer, Shanghai City has issued the first cold wave warning in the Year of the Dragon. It is expected that the minimum temperature in most areas of the city will drop by about 8℃ in the next 48 hours.
At 14:00 today, strong cold air has arrived in central Shandong and is expected to affect Shanghai tomorrow morning. Affected by the intersection of cold and warm air, Shanghai will be cloudy with showers or thunderstorms during the day tomorrow, with moderate rainfall in some areas, and it will turn cloudy to cloudy at night. By then, the wind will increase and the temperature will be inverted. The highest temperature will occur tomorrow morning, which is expected to be around 12°C. After that, the temperature will continue to drop. The lowest temperature will be around 4°C in the urban area tomorrow night.
Within 24 hours from today, the 48-hour minimum temperature in Shanghai will drop by up to 8℃, and the maximum temperature will be "halved". The lowest temperature the day after tomorrow will be around 2°C in the urban area and minus 2°C to minus 1°C in the suburbs, with thin ice.
But anyway, winter has come to an end. Starting from the day after tomorrow, the warm air across the country will quickly counterattack. The cumulative maximum temperature increase in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River can reach 8℃ to 10℃, with some areas exceeding 12℃. Around the 19th, the highest temperatures in many places in Jiangnan and South China can reach around 30°C, which is so warm that it is close to or breaking the highest record for the same period in history. On the 19th, the highest temperature in Shanghai will set a new high for the Year of the Dragon, reaching 24°C.
