The Dinosaur Resurrection Record - Returning to the Dinosaur Era Interactive Experience Exhibition was held on July 5th at the Shanghai Mass Art Museum. The exhibition interprets, extends, and combines the three-dimensional book "How to Revive a Dinosaur" to provide insights into the mysteries of dinosaurs for citizens, especially children on summer vacation. The dinosaur world, made up of environmentally friendly substitute wood materials, makes the audience feel like they have entered the real world of the book.

In the 1993 movie Jurassic Park, dinosaurs were still upright ferocious beasts, but in 2015 Jurassic World, they became bent down reptiles. Why is this? The Dinosaur Resurrection Record - Interactive Experience Exhibition on Returning to the Age of Dinosaurs presents the entire process of dinosaur "resurrection" through graphic and textual introductions, model displays, and scene restoration. Due to the discovery of more new fossils, scientists have delved deeper and corrected the posture of dinosaurs. The exhibition takes the spinosaurus with an ultra long dorsal nerve as an example, telling the story of how scientists relay the research of dinosaur fossils, continuously revise and restore spinosaurus, and make specimens that we can see in museums today.

In addition to "resurrecting" a complete dinosaur, there is a huge dinosaur footprint on the exhibition hall floor. Scientists have calculated the speed of dinosaur movement using compound stride and hip height, and calculated that the Tyrannosaurus rex at the end of the Cretaceous period is likely to be the "running champion" among dinosaurs.

The science popularization three-dimensional book "How to Revive a Dinosaur" was created by a team of Wang Junqing, Zhang Weigui, Hu Xidan, and Bao Lijun, who are engaged in educational theory research and practice at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. It is published by the Shanghai Shanghai Style Comic Center. Liu Yajun, Director of Shanghai Haipai Comic Center and Editor in Chief of Shanghai Urban Animation Publishing Media Co., Ltd., introduced that this book is a turning point for Shanghai Urban Animation and Haipai Comic Center, with nearly three years of investment in research and development. "We have spent 10 years publishing a large amount of red culture themed content and conducting a series of derivative development, which has been our dream for many years to advance into science popularization. With the support of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, we have found such an excellent IP."

In Liu Yajun's circle of friends, this book has received unanimous praise, with the two most frequently mentioned words being "shocking". "How to Revive a Dinosaur" breaks the traditional structure of flipping pages in three-dimensional books. The book has complex mechanisms and involves some special folding and assembly methods. During printing and binding, workers also need to receive additional training. "We hope to open a book that can make readers feel like they are entering a museum system, and we hope to further leverage its aesthetic education value and social benefits on the platform of the group art museum," said Liu Yajun.

Turning a book into an exhibition is not just about simply putting the content on the wall, it requires a lot of secondary creation. Zhou Beili, curator of the City Qun Art Museum, introduced that as a free and open exhibition, she hopes that audiences of different age groups can benefit from it. Children can see their favorite dinosaurs, and dinosaur enthusiasts can learn about the latest research progress from them.

"To make the audience appreciate the book in a targeted manner, it is necessary to refine the book and not 100% copy the content of the book. Some relatively small parts of the book are actually enlarged in the exhibition; some parts may not be suitable for presentation in the exhibition logic, and are also painfully cut off." Zhou Beili gave an example. When reading a three-dimensional book, the reader's gaze is from top to bottom, but when seeing these massive works in the exhibition hall, the audience's gaze is from bottom to top, and the structure of some parts needs to be adjusted during the exhibition. For example, a picture of a dinosaur holding a fish in its mouth is presented flat in the book, but in the exhibition hall, the fish is printed out separately and inserted horizontally into the dinosaur's mouth, forming a large set of devices, ensuring that the audience can see from different angles that the dinosaur is holding a fish in its mouth.

During the exhibition, volunteer guides served in the exhibition hall every day to help visitors better explore the world of dinosaurs. The Shiqun Art Museum also offers a series of art education courses with dinosaurs as the theme, inviting book planners to tell the story of the book and offering dinosaur pottery classes.

The Dinosaur Resurrection Chronicle - Returning to the Dinosaur Era Interactive Experience Exhibition showcases the ancient legend of dinosaurs in the form of innovative science popularization and immersive experience. Wu Penghong, the director of the City Qun Art Museum, introduced that the exhibition is part of the Youth Art Education Brand "Entering the Gate of Art" of the City Qun Art Museum and will be open throughout the summer. In addition to the dinosaur exhibition on the first floor, there will also be a climbing exhibition on the second floor, and the fourth floor will collaborate with the Barcelona Art Museum to launch the 4th anniversary retrospective exhibition of art entering the community. The auditorium on the fourth floor of the Qunyi Hall has also prepared 20 animated movies for children to choose from. Guidance, lectures, and intangible cultural heritage handicraft experience classes for parent-child families will also be launched gradually during the summer. In addition, the "Entering the Gate of Art" summer course will start on July 19th, and the City Qun Art Museum has opened registration for the entire city on June 30th. Courses such as dinosaur themed picture books, art jump rope, Kunqu opera, and Yue opera are popular.
