At the 2023 Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Technology, Products and Achievements Expo held recently, more than 350 well-known scientists, industry experts, and enterprise representatives from both domestic and foreign countries participated in the Science Forum of the Carbon Expo. As the only representative of the food and beverage industry, Chen Yingrang, CEO of Kangshifu Holdings Co., Ltd., a national brand enterprise, attended the forum and participated in a roundtable discussion, sharing the company's practical experience in committed to sustainable development, actively promoting energy conservation and emission reduction, and driving the industry to pursue a path of green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.
In recent years, Kangshifu has proposed the sustainable development concept of "evergreen home, health is a blessing" in accordance with the new national development concept, making green, low-carbon, high-quality sustainable development the core strategy of enterprise development. A sustainable development committee has been established at the group level to regularly review and make decisions on green and low-carbon issues for enterprises.
Chen Yingrang stated that as a national brand that reaches 900 million consumers annually and has a market penetration rate of 83.2%, Kangshifu has been striving to establish a green and high-quality development model for the food and beverage industry through scientific carbon reduction. It hopes to become a platform and bridge for the application, transformation, and innovation of new carbon reduction technologies, while meeting consumer needs and promoting the industry to move towards carbon neutrality.

It is reported that the group has taken the lead in launching a comprehensive carbon investigation project in the industry, scientifically setting emission reduction targets and paths, implementing a series of technological innovation projects, and achieving significant results. According to statistical data, the group's greenhouse gas emissions per million yuan of revenue decreased by 11.2% in 2021 compared to 2017, comprehensive energy consumption per million yuan of revenue decreased by 5.0%, and water consumption per million yuan of revenue decreased by 8.7%. For example, the steaming box and high-temperature flue gas recovery system developed by Kangshifu's instant noodle business unit can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 173000 tons per year, which is equivalent to the carbon dioxide emissions of a car traveling 250 times around the equator. For example, Kangshifu's digital future factory project built in Hangzhou has achieved real-time monitoring of the equipment status of the entire factory, which can quickly handle production and energy consumption anomalies, saving energy and improving quality assurance capabilities.
Last year, Kangshifu released the first bottle label free beverage in China, pioneering a low-carbon trend of removing individual bottle labels and selling it in full boxes. The company has also developed the first tea beverage in China to achieve carbon neutrality, "Pure Extract Zero Sugar," and has collaborated with professional organizations to release the country's first carbon footprint accounting standards and carbon neutrality evaluation standards for tea beverages. Both of these group standards are pioneering in China and provide a detailed "manual" for carbon neutrality practices of industry partners.

Low carbon or even zero carbon is a common dream worldwide. Kangshifu regularly exchanges low-carbon development experience and technology with international strategic partners, conducts high-frequency exchanges with the United Nations Global Compact and multiple industry associations, and also works with upstream and downstream partners and professional institutions to draft and release multiple "dual carbon" related standards or guidance cases for the food and beverage industry, calling on all value chain partners and industry partners to help achieve the "dual carbon" goals.
As one of the main initiators, the company also co initiated the first pilot project of GDI for SDG, "Alleviating Marine Plastic Pollution and Supporting the Transformation of Low Carbon Economy," with UNGC. Together with partners, the recycled PET and other used plastic products are recycled into various consumer goods, and then promoted on e-commerce platforms to achieve recycling.
World Earth Day themed activities
On the recent Earth Day, Kangshifu collaborated with environmental solution partners to create environmentally friendly peripheral products such as trolley boxes, picnic mats, and storage boxes using discarded beverage bottles. This includes the joint launch of eco-friendly suitcase brand CROWN Crown, becoming the first commercialized rPET project. Due to the use of patented technology, the amount of recycled plastic used in travel boxes is large, which is more environmentally friendly than existing materials. Moreover, it is odorless, impact resistant, and low-temperature resistant, demonstrating the feasibility of the rPET circular economy model to the industry.
Chen Yingrang said that there are no outsiders on the path of "dual carbon", and the company will continue to explore new driving forces for energy conservation, emission reduction, and efficiency enhancement, and work together with upstream and downstream partners to help achieve the national "dual carbon" goals.
