New typhoon Soulik forms, closer to Shanghai, and the path of Plasang moves northward
According to the Central Meteorological Observatory, this year's 14th typhoon "Prasang" strengthened into a severe tropical storm this morning, and the Central Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow typhoon warning at 10 a.m.
The path of "Prasang" is shifting northward. At 10 a.m. today, the center of "Prasang" was located on the East China Sea, about 320 kilometers east-southeast of Xiangshan County, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, and about 380 kilometers from Nanhuizui, Pudong, Shanghai. The maximum wind force near the center was level 10, the lowest central pressure was 985 Pa, and the radius of the level 7 wind circle was 150-160 kilometers.
The meteorological department predicts that "Prasang" will move rapidly toward the northwest at a speed of 40-45 kilometers per hour, and its intensity will increase. It is expected to land on the coast from Xiangshan, Zhejiang to Pudong, Shanghai this afternoon or evening, and will be a tropical storm or severe tropical storm when it lands.
Affected by the outer cloud system of "Prasang", Shanghai will be cloudy to overcast with scattered showers during the day today. The rainfall will be more obvious after the evening. Showers with short-term thunderstorms are expected from the evening to the first half of the night, and heavy rain will occur in some areas, with the maximum hourly rainfall intensity of 30-50 mm. From the afternoon, most parts of the city will have gusts of 7-8, and high-rise buildings and coastal areas will have gusts of 8-9. The temperature will drop slightly, 26℃-31℃ throughout the day, but the humidity is high and the body feels stuffy.
The meteorological department also reminded that since the subtropical high pressure is significantly weakening, the possibility of "Prasang" continuing to move north cannot be ruled out at present, and everyone still needs to pay attention to the latest forecast and warning information.
Two more typhoons are on their way. The tropical depression in the South China Sea has strengthened into the 15th typhoon "Soulik" this morning. At 8 a.m., its center was located about 155 kilometers northeast of Dong Ha City, Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. The intensity is tropical storm level, and the wind force near the center is level 8. It is expected that "Soulik" will move westward and southward at a speed of about 10 kilometers per hour, land on the eastern coast of Vietnam tonight, and then gradually weaken.
Another typhoon will form in the northwest Pacific next week, so Shanghai will experience frequent rains and significant short-term precipitation in the coming period. Preventing rain and flooding is of top priority, so everyone should be prepared.
