Technical experts provide guidance on grain lodging treatment, Baoshan Yuepu Fruit and Vegetable Cooperative receives advance payment from Bebejia Agricultural Insurance
In the past two days, Yang Keming, head of Shanghai Yueshen Fruit and Vegetable Professional Cooperative, and his colleagues have been busy checking the condition of the vegetable greenhouses, sorting and restoring them, in order to start a new round of vegetable planting as soon as possible. Typhoon Bebejia passed through, causing some damage to the cooperative's vegetable greenhouses and rice fields.
"The government has attached great importance to this, and the insurance company has taken timely action, which gives us confidence in the subsequent repair of facilities and resumption of production." Yang Keming said that on September 17, the cooperative had received a 150,000 yuan advance payment for agricultural insurance for Typhoon "Bebejia" issued by the Shanghai Branch of Pacific Anxin Agricultural Insurance Co., Ltd. Today, the insurance company staff came to the site again to inspect the greenhouse film and assess the damage.
Zhang Fenghao, Party Secretary of the Economic Development Service Center of Yuepu Town, Baoshan District, said that although the Economic Development Service Center had reminded farmers and cooperatives to reinforce vegetable greenhouses and fruit tree supports on the 14th and 15th, and instructed farmers to dig ditches and drain water in advance to prevent waterlogging in low-lying rice fields and cooperatives, the disaster was still serious due to the powerful force of Typhoon Bebejia.
It is reported that the total vegetable planting area in Yuepu Town is 1,179.97 mu, of which 1,028 mu were affected by the disaster, and 1,716 greenhouses were damaged; the grain planting area is 1,181.15 mu, of which 530.4 mu were affected; the fruit planting area is 416.57 mu, of which 368 mu were affected, and 184 greenhouses were damaged, with 10 tons of fruit falling.
Fortunately, no farmers or cooperative staff were injured during the typhoon. Zhang Fenghao said that the insurance company contacted the town in advance, "When we visited, we also reminded everyone that personal safety is the first priority, and don't rush to help when you see a greenhouse blown down by strong winds." At present, Yueshen Vegetable and Fruit Professional Cooperative is the first cooperative in Yuepu Town to receive advance agricultural insurance compensation. The other cooperatives that have purchased agricultural insurance have contacted the insurance company and are waiting for follow-up inspections and damage assessments.
In the past two days, the Baoshan District Agricultural Technology Extension Center has also organized a technical team to come to Changchun Village to provide guidance on the situation of grain lodging. Lodging can reduce the yield and quality of crops and make harvesting difficult. When rice lodging is serious, the yield can even be reduced by more than half. In order to reduce yield losses and ensure high and stable grain yields, technical experts guide farmers to drain the water from the farmland and keep the rice in the heading stage at a suitable humidity as soon as possible.
