The 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services closed today. This year's Fair has set up 1 comprehensive exhibition and 9 special exhibitions, held 13 theme forums, 88 special forums, and 56 negotiation and promotion sessions, attracting more than 2,000 companies to participate in offline exhibitions and more than 6,000 companies to participate in online exhibitions. As of 12:00 noon today, a total of nearly 242,000 people entered the venue, and more than 100,000 professional visitors were invited to attend the fair, an increase of 20% over last year.
The international participation of this session of CIFTIS hit a new high. 85 countries and international organizations set up exhibitions and held conferences, of which 13 set up independent exhibitions for the first time, which is more than the previous session. France, the guest of honor, organized enterprises such as event management, cultural and tourism services to participate in the exhibition, and linked them with educational services and sports services to expand new space for Sino-French cooperation. Australia joined hands with 20 enterprises and institutions to participate in the exhibition and negotiate, warming up for serving as the guest of honor in 2025. The overall internationalization rate of offline exhibitors exceeded 20%, with more than 460 Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders.
Pu Xuedong, director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, introduced that during the 2024 CIFTIS, nearly 1,000 achievements in seven categories, including transactions and investments, were achieved, mainly in the fields of construction, finance, and commercial services. The transaction volume of each district and each topic in Beijing was higher than that of the previous session. At the "Beijing Day" and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Investment Promotion Conference, the three places jointly released 202 key investment promotion cooperation projects, 24 of which were successfully signed; and announced that the Yizhuang Comprehensive Bonded Zone was officially approved by the State Council, becoming the fastest approved comprehensive bonded zone in the country.
Focusing on cultivating and developing new quality productivity, this session of the Services Trade Fair showcased the latest achievements, technologies and applications in the digitalization, intelligence and green development of services trade, and released more than 200 integrated innovation achievements. 37 local trading groups, as well as central enterprise trading groups and central financial enterprise trading groups gathered at the Services Trade Fair again to fully demonstrate their superior and distinctive services and actively participate in negotiations and procurement. During the meeting, authoritative reports such as the "China Services Trade Development Report" were released, the latest research results were shared, and the latest industry trends were analyzed.
Wang Bo, deputy director of the Department of Trade in Services and Commercial Services of the Ministry of Commerce, said at a press conference at the CIIE News Center that in the future, the Ministry of Commerce will further promote high-level opening up of trade in services, expand the space for cooperation in trade in services, and enhance the innovation capacity of trade in services.
For example, we will promote the high-quality implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, actively advance the process of joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement; promote the implementation of the Global Partnership Network for Trade in Services program; support qualified regions in building international cooperation parks for trade in services; build national demonstration zones for innovative development of trade in services; encourage professional service institutions to enhance their international service capabilities, and support the growth and strengthening of new service outsourcing models.
