Traffic control has not been lifted yet, waterlogging has appeared on the roads, and the number of 110 police calls in Shanghai has increased significantly
The reporter learned from the Shanghai Public Security Bureau Command Center that from 0:00 to 10:00 today, a total of more than 8,000 police reports were received, mainly concentrated in the case of falling objects from high altitudes and fallen trees, which is a significant increase compared with normal days. Starting in the morning, the number of incoming calls to "110 police situation" has gradually increased. The Municipal Public Security Bureau Command Center has fully opened the alarm reception desk, and there is currently no queue for 110 alarm calls.
In order to deal with the strong winds and rainstorms brought by "Bebejia", the Shanghai police have activated a high-level duty mode, with all 60,000 police officers and auxiliary police officers on duty, and engaged in front-line handling work. In particular, in Pudong, Fengxian, Jinshan, Chongming and other places that were severely affected by the typhoon, there were many cases of fallen trees and falling objects from high altitudes. The public security department is working closely with the greening and other departments to fully carry out the handling work.
The wind and rain also had a certain impact on Shanghai's urban road traffic. Some roads were blocked due to fallen trees, and some underpasses were flooded. In response, the public security traffic police department has promptly carried out on-site disposal, stationed at the waterlogging points, and worked with the fire department and other departments to drain water, while guiding passing vehicles to detour to avoid dangerous situations. It is reported that the number of traffic accidents increased slightly today, and the road operation was generally stable.
As of press time, traffic control measures such as the closure of highways in the city and the speed limit of 40 kilometers on elevated roads have not been lifted. The police said that they will make adjustments depending on the impact of the typhoon and issue relevant notices in a timely manner.
