The first year of ARTRA Self made Art at the Shanghai International Art Festival in China kicked off, with the help of masters
On September 19th, the new art brand "ARTRA Customized Art" launched by the Shanghai International Art Festival in China was unveiled, and three major art projects and multiple public projects jointly created by world-renowned artists were released for the first time. Li Ming, President of the Shanghai International Art Festival Center in China, and artist representatives Shen Wei, Ni Zhiqi, and others jointly lit up the new public art work air film sculpture "Art Bird Returns Home" located at No. 101 Chengdu South Road, where the art festival center is located, and pressed the start button of ARTRA's custom art year.
Relying on the art festival platform, ARTRA has invited highly dynamic art creators worldwide to develop, commission, and promote projects around the interaction and integration of stage art and visual art, continuously promoting in-depth dialogue and development between the two art fields. ARTRA will launch three major art projects in its first year of self creation, namely Shen Wei's "Rong" 2023 edition, Robert Wilson Lucinda Chalz's "Relatively Calm", and the collaborative creation project "When the Future Meets the Past" by Chinese and foreign artist residences.

Shen Wei, an internationally renowned choreographer and visual artist, stated that "Rong" is a concentrated display of his artistic cross-border, cultural integration, and synaesthetic creative thinking over the past thirty years. It integrates Chinese classical philosophy, contemporary art, and dance performance, and is a future oriented creation and exploration of new art forms.
It is worth mentioning that the 2023 version of "Rong" was originally scheduled to be staged from October 1st to 10th at the West Coast Dome Art Center. Due to the booming sales situation in the early stage, "Rong" will have an additional 10 performances and be extended until October 20th.

In June 2021, "Rong" made its world premiere at the West Coast Dome Art Center and was praised as an "unseen" art scene. The 2023 version of "Rong", as the first self-made project launched by ARTRA, still consists of three fixed paragraphs fused and interwoven. In the exhibition "All Things Have Spirits", viewers will appreciate 64 works by Shen Wei, covering media such as painting, writing, photography, and objects; The experimental image "Everything and Connected" explores the relationship between individuals and cities through improvised body movements; The live performance of "The Harmony of Heaven and Earth" integrates installation, projection, sound, and dance, allowing the audience to freely shuttle through it and watch it up close and deeply immersed. The 2023 version has been finely polished and upgraded in terms of live performance, visual presentation, and viewing experience.

The 2023 version of "Rong" has further optimized its route by adding a panoramic viewing angle located on the second floor of the West Bank Dome Art Center. Audiences holding this type of full ticket can either go deep between the stages on the first floor or choose the second floor stands to have a panoramic view of the works from a top-down perspective. More than 20 dancers from all over the country collaborated with Guangdong Modern Dance Troupe on the same stage, bringing together the emerging forces in the field of Chinese modern dance.

Another heavyweight art project of ARTRA this year is the work "Relatively Calm" co created by modern art masters Robert Wilson and Lucinda Chalz. The work premiered in 1981, and after more than 40 years, the two artists used the original as the source and starting point, based on Igor Stravinsky's ballet "Puccinella", and adapted and recreated the music, visual, drama, and dance in the work. Lucinda praised ARTRA's pioneering brand philosophy and international professional artistic standards in the video. "Relatively Calm" will be performed at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music on November 18th and 19th.

The collaborative creation project "When the Future Meets the Past" by Chinese and foreign artist residences is the latest commissioned art project by ARTRA. It invites six visual artists, musicians, and choreographers from different creative fields and cultural backgrounds, including Chen Wei, Hu Wei, Wang Ziyue, Geraldine Jolite, OY group, and Leo Wota, to freely combine and collaborate in a creative manner. From October 6th to November 19th, they will present a specific performance venue in three distinctive urban cultural spaces in Shanghai, including cultural landmarks, art museum spaces, and historical buildings. Six artists have completed team building and delved deep into Guizhou to explore the local intangible cultural heritage, drawing inspiration from tradition and creating new creations in Shanghai. Let the city return to humanity, let aesthetics return to life - this is the beautiful vision of integrating art into a new round of urban renewal, and also ARTRA's positioning and mission in public art projects.
One of the public projects of ARTRA's custom art, "Urban Exploration," invited renowned artist Ni Zhiqi to collaborate with young artist Ni Hao to create a customized field with the external building of the art festival center as the creative space, conveying ARTRA's innovative concept and exploration spirit through the revitalization and rebirth of public spaces.

Ni Zhiqi introduced that the project consists of two parts. The renovated exterior facade of the art festival center building features its most representative "vacuum" series as elements, combined with the trendy dopamine color, symbolizing the rich and colorful culture and art of the world. Through the Shanghai International Art Festival in China, it is intertwined and integrated here. The air film sculpture "The Art Bird Returns Home" located in the Sky Garden symbolizes the return of the art festival, while also constantly exploring and connecting artistic life from all corners of the world. From then on, there was another art check-in spot on the streets of Shanghai.

During this year's art festival, ARTRA's custom art will also bring multiple public projects such as "Global Dialogue" and "Art Screening Program". The Global Dialogue invites Professor Jiang Jiehong from the University of Birmingham in the UK to serve as the host. Nearly 10 creators and renowned exhibition leaders from different disciplines will share and explore creative thinking and new operational concepts. Jiang Jiehong said, "Only when there is real interaction and dialogue between different art forms and media, can art become magical and truly enter daily life, making our cities more beautiful."
