"Sea Music Talks" Upgrade Returns, Shanghai Ethnic Orchestra's Folk Music Reception Hall Appears
On the evening of September 15th, the art education brand "Sea Music Talk" of Shanghai Ethnic Orchestra returned after a double upgrade, and its first event, "Reception of Chinese Music", also opened a new exhibition space.
"My feelings for this building are very deep! Many of my works were born here," said Gu Guanren, former head/artistic director and composer of the Shanghai Ethnic Orchestra, in the exhibition space that has been renovated by the orchestra.
The renovated exhibition space will become the band's "Folk Music Reception Hall", using multimedia and digital means to bring Shanghai style folk music into urban life.

The exhibition space is themed around the inheritance and development of Shanghai style folk music, cleverly designed within a limited space and constructed from eight themes.
Jinyun dynamically showcases the development history and classic performances of the band through continuous screens. "Qiong Pian" not only showcases the band's short films, but also allows people to experience the fun of striking a millennium long bell through clips from "Spring River Flower Moon Night". "Di Chen" showcases the digital content of the band's "Twelve Zodiac Signs in Chinese Music" through projection, bringing a unique immersive experience to children.

In addition, the "Youlan Wall" displays the oldest version fragment of the Guqin score "Youlan". "Cuiyu" can serve as a resting place for drinking tea and listening to music, as well as a sales space for cultural and creative products. Xiangquan displays traditional Chinese percussion instruments for audience interaction. "Taoran" creates a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for folk music performances in the form of an outdoor stage.
Eight elegant and poetic names, inscribed by Ling Lizhong, Director of the Calligraphy and Painting Department of the Shanghai Museum. "The origin of these names is twofold: firstly, they reflect the ancient literati 'view of nature; secondly, they reflect the extraordinary and extraordinary spiritual realm of painters and musicians."
Multiple photography sketches related to the band were also exhibited on site, by art critic and vice president of the Shanghai Art Photography Society, Xu Mingsong. In recent years, he has watched and listened to many performances by orchestras, which has also overturned his previous impression of folk music. "Performances such as" Folk Music on the Sea "and" The Odyssey Bund Story in Shanghai ", in today's words, are called a feast of audio-visual aesthetics and a feast of audio-visual fusion, so I fell in love with folk music."
Folk Music Reception Hall
Since its first launch in 2019, "Sea Music Talk" has been sharing colorful folk music with audiences every year with different themes and diverse forms. Adhering to the creative concept of "folk music+", this series has undergone a dual upgrade from content to form this year. The five offline activities of "Visiting National Music", "National Music Context", "Music Based on Childlike innocence", "Poetry and Music Cleansing Dust", and "Qin Taoist Harmony" will start from themes such as "Poetry and Music", "Book and Music", "Qin and Music", and "Rites and Music", combined with a small and beautiful artistic space.
At the "Reception of Chinese Music" event, scholars and famous figures such as Gu Guanren, Ling Lizhong, Xu Mingsong, Wang Yong, and folk music enthusiasts gathered together to chat about the past, present, and future of Chinese music.

As a family member, Liu Bo, the chief of the Ruan Voice Department of the band, donated the flute and mouthpiece that the master of flute and flute, Yu Xunfa, once used.
These donations will be exhibited in the "Jinyun" space, along with manuscripts for the guqin and band "Xiaoxiang Shuiyun" composed by Qu Chunquan and premiered by Gong Yi, as well as manuscripts for the erhu solo "Shancun Transforms" and "Ganji" created by composer Zeng Jiaqing.

Gu Guanren has a deep affection for this building and the orchestra. "The band is where I grew up and where I created my works." Now, he sees the band's development getting better and better, and traditional folk music has a contemporary expression and modern atmosphere. He has created and performed popular representative works such as "Sea Life Folk Music", which is very gratifying.
That evening, Yu Bing, the head of the pipa department of the orchestra, Wang Yinrui, the head of the percussion department, Li Lin, the Liuqin performer, Zhao Yunmeng, the flute and xiao performer, and Gong Youlan, the specially invited guqin performer, jointly performed performances such as "Spring River Flower Moonlight", "Sea Rose", and "Youlan".
