A letter written by a female journalist to an unborn child, narrated by three female actors
The sound of ethereal hand dishes echoed in the theater. "That night, when I opened my eyes and sat in the darkness, I felt your presence. It was as if a bullet had hit me, and my heart stopped beating. When my heart started beating again, infinite surprise came like a barrage of bullets..." Three actresses, Huang Fangling, Shen Jiani, and Maiduo, appeared behind the white curtains. The stage play "A Letter to an Unborn Child" adapted from the novel of the same name by Italian journalist and writer Oriana Farage has recently returned to the Shanghai Theatre Art Center and will be performed until October 1st.

The novel "A Letter to an Unborn Child" was first published in 1975 and was a great success. Adapted into a stage play of the same name, the character in the play is troubled by countless questions. Why bring the child into this world? Is becoming a mother a woman's duty or a free choice? Does having a child mean giving up her career prospects? Huang Fangling, Shen Jiani, and Mai Duo co play pregnant women, with multiple roles including male doctor, female doctor, newspaper owner, mother, father, grandmother, and child.
After reading the novel "A Letter to an Unborn Child", screenwriter and director Zhou Ke said, "The novel expresses all the problems that will be encountered in the subject of life through the mother's mouth: how to face the nothingness in life, how to face love, how to face gender, and how to face the meaning of life. The stage play" A Letter to an Unborn Child "is a poem written for life, with philosophical significance. The last sentence of the entire play is a sentence that I particularly like: it exists, life always exists. Our individual experiences disappear, but life itself does not disappear. All human growth, experience, and wisdom will continue to exist in the universe with the continuation of life."

The stage play "A Letter to an Unborn Child" invited disc player Yin Yin to perform a niche percussion disc on site. The sound of hand dishes is known as the "closest sound to the universe", with ethereal and mysterious music that allows people to instantly relax. Zhou Ke hopes to create a wonderful "chemical reaction" between the sound of the hand disc and the space in the theater, giving the audience a "soul massage".
