The Global Cooperation and Development Conference of the European and American Alumni Association Overseas Returnees Town was held in Wuxi

On September 13th, the Global Cooperation and Development Conference of the European and American Alumni Association Overseas Returnee Town was held in Wuxi Economic and Technological Development Zone. The first batch of overseas returnee towns in China and the only one in Jiangsu Province were officially put into use, playing the innovative overture of "City of the Future, Unlimited possibilities".

Cao Weixing, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Deputy Director of the Education, Science, Health and Sports Committee, Vice President of the European and American Alumni Association, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Democratic League, and former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources, delivered a speech at the meeting; Tang Yingnian, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Honorary President of the Wuxi European and American Alumni Association, delivered a video speech; Du Xiaogang, Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, delivered a speech. Zhou Changqing, member of the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, Zhao Junming, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department and Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, and Yang Jianping, Yu Zhengye, and Qin Yan, leaders of the Wuxi Economic Development Zone, participated in the event.

At the same time, more than 300 representatives from the national branches of the European and American Alumni Association, the European and American Alumni Association in Jiangsu Province and sister provinces and cities, some well-known university student associations around the world, and leading domestic enterprises, well-known investment institutions, and scientific and technological innovation enterprises in the field of the Internet of Things gathered together to witness the official launch of the new carrier of the European and American Alumni Association's overseas returnee town, explore new standards, new ideas, and new models for industrial development, and work together to build a new ecosystem for development.

The Overseas Returnees Town of the European and American Alumni Association officially started its application for construction in July 2019. During this period, it underwent two rounds of evaluation by the expert group of the European and American Alumni Association and was officially unveiled in September last year. The town covers a total area of approximately 970 acres and is planned in stages according to the starting area, core area, and radiation area. Among them, the start-up area covers an area of about 170 acres, and the core area covers an area of about 800 acres.

At the event, Cao Weixing, Zhou Changqing, Chen Wei, and Yang Jianping, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Wuxi Economic Development Zone, jointly pressed the official opening button of the town, marking a new milestone in the construction of the town. The goal of accelerating the construction of a "global, benchmark, and demonstrative" leading town will be anchored, helping more returnees to "take root" in Wuxi and promoting the development of the Internet of Things industry with higher quality.

Overseas returnees rush to Wuxi, where Wuxi achieves overseas returnees. As a place of residence, Wuxi Economic and Technological Development Zone has formulated and introduced special policies for returnee towns, providing efficient and caring escort services for returnee talents to achieve their aspirations and contribute to the motherland. At the event, a wonderful promotion was made on the quality environment and special policies of the returnee town, including "accelerating the introduction of high-end talents, accelerating the agglomeration of industrial projects, supporting enterprises to grow and strengthen, creating a public empowerment platform, encouraging two-way cooperation and exchange, and strengthening factor support and guarantee". The attending representatives fully felt the "livability, virtue, courtesy, and sincerity" of the returnee town.

With accurate modern industrial layout, livable living environment and sufficient policy supply, Wuxi Economic Development Zone strives to build the "optimal ecological circle" by the the Taihu Lake Lake and the "greatest common denominator" of talent and industrial development, fully demonstrating the full sincerity of two-way travel with overseas returnees. In terms of policy and financial support, we are also "steadfast": providing comprehensive support of up to 100 million yuan to overseas returnees, up to 150 million yuan to major overseas returnee talent projects, and up to 500 million yuan to build major innovation platforms and introduce and tackle "bottleneck" key technologies... From six dimensions and 27 policies, we provide support for the entire process of innovation and entrepreneurship for overseas returnees.

At the event ceremony, the first batch of signed companies, including Xiaodu Technology's IoT headquarters project, China Shipbuilding's Aolanto CAE software headquarters, Geely Innovation Center, and Future Mirror, received keys and moved in on site. 16 projects, including Xiaopai Intelligent AIGC and Xinyan Huishi Big Model, were signed on site, covering industries such as AIGC, energy storage and new energy, biotechnology, digital economy, integrated circuits, and capital, with a total signing amount of 1.012 billion yuan.

Talents gather because of their careers, and careers thrive because of their talents. The growth and development of the returnee town cannot be separated from the cohesion of the senior members of the European and American Alumni Association. At the event, 10 representatives from the European and American Alumni Association's national branches, globally renowned alumni associations, and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area became the first batch of "global promotion ambassadors" for the town. The ambassadors will help enhance the global influence of the returnee town, attract more returnee elites in the field of the Internet of Things to come to Wuxi for innovation and entrepreneurship, and help the town truly become a gathering place for various returnee talents, a source of emerging industries, a breakthrough place for key technologies, a promotion place for traditional advantageous industries, and a practical highland for industry city integration.
