According to Du Qinyuan, Deputy Director of Shanghai Institute of Corporate Culture and Brand Research, 83 selected brands exhibit the following characteristics:

Firstly, it reflects the influence and recognition of Shanghai's fashion consumer goods nationwide. Representative brands in industries such as gold and jewelry, food, cosmetics, and automobiles, such as Lao Fengxiang, Guangming Dairy, Shanghai Jiahua, and several sub brands under SAIC, such as Feifan and Zhiji, have been included in the list.

The second is the convergence of Chinese time-honored brands and new forces through a century of time and space. As Shanghai, which has the largest number of Chinese time-honored brands in the country, time-honored brands are still on the list. 18 time-honored brands have been selected, not only leading brands such as Laofengxiang and Guangming, but also well-known century old brands such as Sanqiang and Fenghuang.
